Will Benchmade come out with a Contego-mini?

I really like everything about the BM 810 Contego, except for the 4" long blade and the 5.3" folded length. Most areas near me have 3.5" knife blade law. Does anyone know if Benchmade will eventually come out with a Contego-mini at some point?

Yeah the Rift is basically a mini version. I think they are too close in design for BM to come out with a mini 810. They would basically have the same blade with just a little different handle profile. The Rift is a better design anyways, IMO.

Yeah, I do agree with you. I don't want the Rift because I like the M4 and the thicker blade stock of the 810. I also like the glass breaker on a working knife. Some think they are pointless, and that's fine, but I have had a friend put one to use

I do like the shorter blade profile of the Rift, but that knife has never really done it for me. If I'm spending over $100, I kinda want something better than 154CM.

I have a Rift and love it. From what I've used BM does a good job with their 154CM and I personally enjoy using it. Now if they did a Rift in M4 I would own 2 of them. I owned a Contego but I just never could enjoy carrying it for some reason.

Thanks; good to hear a comparison opinion. What was it about the 810 that didn't keep it in your pocket more? Was it the length or bulk in pocket, or was it something else entirely?
