I missed it when it was in production, and now I strongly desire to get one in ZDP189/420J2 laminated version.
(I can't find them available on any dealers' website in the moment......)

So is there any possibility of reproducing it in the near future?Maybe in the form of Sprint Run or Exclusive Order?

BTW,out of my curiosity, could anyone tell me why Sal determined to make Caly3 discontinued in 2016?I think they are popular all the time, light and handy,an excellent choice for EDC.

Thank you my friends!

Maybe its time for a Caly4?

Caly 4, screw construction, done?

Seeing the excitement around the latest sprint release, how it sells out as they trickle in, I too am surprised that it is not a regular production model. Or, is that the plan - keep it limited and exciting. The HAP40 is one of my top five, for sure.

I really like the ZDP/420 laminate on the Caly 3. To me it behaves a bit differently than the solid ZDP on, say, the Dragonfly 2. I like it better. :)
If screw-together construction were on the table, I'd probably buy another Caly 3. Maybe one with G10 scales? And even better... linerless construction? :)

I don't necessarily stick to ZDP189/420J2.HAP40 is also an exceptional option.
And carbon fiber and Green G10 is what I am looking forward to.
(To be honest,I am a fan of 52100,but seems a bit impossible as Caly is produced in Japan.)

The UKPK is made in Golden and would be a nice fit for 52100.

Yes! I would love to see the Caly 3 with linerless G-10 or cf, but with updated hardware! I think that the pinned construction and the protruding pivot keep that knife from being the best all time gentleman EDC. The design and ergonomics of the Caly 3 are so good; I prefer it over the 3.5 most of the time.

As a side note to OP, the Golden made UKPK is worth picking up. It has the same design and size. I have the S110V version. The current UKPKs have gotten so good. Snappy and strong detent, and light as a feather!

I believe I recall Sal saying they were having quality issues with the maker (Moki). I know the dad had passed away and I'm pretty sure Sal mentioned something about the son not having the skill that the Dad had. It doesnt really make sense since they kept the Caly 3.5 but I know I remember Sal mentioning it. I'm sure sluggish sales also had something to do with the 3 going away.

Over on the Spyderco Forum Sal had mentioned they had a Caly 3.5 FRN on the drawing board. I'm hopeful that one will come to fruition and ultimately a Caly 3 FRN.

Yes, there was some sort of QC issue with the knife. It did not help that one could buy a Delica for far less money. However, I like the Caly3 and it replaced the Leek as my go to pocket knife at the time I bought mine. Same size, better knife.

I did not think about looking at NK. Good find.

I hope Spyderco comes out with a 3.5 HAP40 model that is around the same price point as the 3.

Being that the Caly 3 is my favorite Spyderco model of all time - I sure hope there are more runs of it.
