Will CRK polish a tumbled blade?

If I were to buy a micadta Sebenza with a tumbled blasé but really desire the polished blade that you see on all non-micadta inlaid CR knives would they polish it if I send it in?

There is a cost for retumbling and repolishing. I'm not sure why they wouldn't do a different finish on it.

They will only refinish a blade to its original form. They will re-tumble a stonewashed blade, and they will re-polish a polished blade, not the other way around. I have emailed and asked them this several times. I like some of the uniques, but prefer an all stonewashed blade verses the polished blades as they scuff from use. But the answer was always No.

I knew I wasn't imagining things, could have sworn I heard someone say the finish can't be changed. Now that I think about it, the someone was probably you.

That's not what Heather told me last time I asked. I specifically asked to have a polished blade changed to stonewash she quoted me a price I never did it.

I Have Asked Heather This Question Many Times......................

They Will Only Restore The Finish On Blades & Scales To There Original Finish

And Thats A Fact Jack
:yawn::yawn::yawn:

On the other hand, I'm certain the blade could be refinished by a reputable third party . . . ban or norcalblacktail, perhaps?

I emailed Heather at the beginning of the year about this very same thing. Here is a quote from her response.

The Large Sebenza could have the polished blade and silver lug. These two options would add 146.50 to the 27.50 + 13.00 refurbishing and return shipping fee. The 146.50 is 129.00 for a polished blade and 11.50 for a silver lug and 6.00 if you wanted the back spacer to be silver to match the thumb lug. We would return your old tumbled blade if we fit it with a new polished blade. There is no option to polish a blade that is tumbled.

So it seems they will replace the blade, but not refinish it. I don't know if the prices are still accurate. You would have to check with CRK. Hope this helps.

Am I the only one who thinks that we're overlooking the simplest solution? The OP hasn't bought the Sebenza yet. Is there any reason why he can't order it directly from CRK with a polished blade?

I read it quickly and didn't even realize. do this!

I used Flitz polish on my blade, stonewashed, after I polished the thumb lug, from blue to silver. The polished blade is much brighter and the stonewash is in-tact, I could have gone further but wanted to leave the stonewash for the most part.

Thanks guys. I may just get it directly from CRk but they take too long to get the knives out. Almost all the dealers are out of them.
I found a small classic micarta for $335 and that is why I am tempted. I did hear that the classics have caused people to cut themselves while the blade was closed. Any truth to this?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean that the blade has opened when it was in their pocket or clipped? Maybe, anything's possible. It's not like a fault of the knife or any sort of common issue though.

Some have claimed this because the meaty part of their fingers go in between the scales when holding the knife closed in the hand.
