i for one say -NO NOT A CHANCE-

companys that are kinda fishy from the start dont last long-fishy to me is sending everything you can make out the door regardless of quality, fishy to me is bending blades so they appear to be centered(noticed that on mine last night):grumpy: things that a start up company thats directly marketing to knife collectors shouldn't do

i have to wonder if they are doing this to make payroll or something, why else would a company that wants our money send out knives with major issues?
they have no web presence ,didnt they have a few bucks to start a web sight?

what was said by the representative of gec to a bf member after he contacted them was asinine for a new company-add in the repair job they just did for a guy over at aapk thats subpar to say the least-

and you have to wonder how long gec will survive-

and that brings me to another conundrum-do i send my pos back and take a chance they stay open for a few more weeks or maybe close and get my knife stuck in a camillus situation-will they actually fix it right or just do a halfass job like they did on the other guys- or do i keep it as is and just wait out the demise of them and have a collector piece

that was a crap shoot thread-

i guess its all just come to a head for me-
im sick and tired of trying to buy a good knife the first time-

lets see- the last knife purchases-first the crap with shipping from dp and the garbage that ensued

next cumberland charged me for a knife they didnt have and it took me 2 weeks to find out because i found a number to call that worked, bill never told me-thats bullshit-imho

bought 2 kershaws and zdp mini cyclone and a jyd-each defective-jyd wont stand a slight spine whack and the zdp has a bad lock-sent the zdp back for service only to recieve it back not fixed(thomas did take care of me)it took 2 tries-thats not good imho

now this knife-again i have to send back a brand new defective piece-

im sick of spending money to send back new defective knives-im sick of dealing with guys who lie about shipping and try to make me out to be the ass-
i guess im just fed up with all the bs involved with trying to buy a non defective knife or dealing with a non defective maker or company-

I think you'll find this is why many people stick to collecting custom knives.

Yes, they're considerably more expensive. But you're much more likely to get the kind of attention to detail you're looking for. True craftsmen don't work for corporations. Apparently your tastes are good enough to discern the difference. I've only recently learned mine are. Only you can answer the question of whether it's worth it from a financial perspective.

Sam,

Those are some good points but even the best makers still send out knives with flaws they don't catch. I've yet to find the "perfect" knife and it's all a matter of determining what's acceptable and what is not (at any given price).
