Will, how about those collaborations?

I'm curious as to how the collaborations are faring sales-wise compared to the normal product line.
The EDC looks like great bang for the buck. So does the ArcLite neck knife.
I've got one of the 154CM Talon's, and think the world of it. The Talon and mini-Talon look like great products, though I can't help but think the price of Talonite scares a lot of people away.

So how are they doing?
Well enough to justify more?
Any plans along those lines?

Not many of Darrel's designs left to choose from (

wait a minute, maybe a production version of the 4" ArcLite!), and I guess the larger Simonich knives would compete directly with the Becker line, so how about Trace Rinaldi?
I'd love to see a 154CM TTKK.

I've really taken a liking to smaller fixed blades (around 3"), but something like the TTKK would be very handy both in camp, and around the house-it's a kitchen knife after all

I'm sure the answer is classified. Just post it here and I promise not to tell anyone

Thanks for asking! The collaborations are going well enough, but so are new projects like BK&T[which could be considered a collaboration also]. We plan on slowly expanding the offerings we have now[2 variations of the EDC will be announced this weekend @ bladeshow], and we have a NEW COLLABORATION with someone other than Terzuola, DDR, or Simonich, that we will announce this weekend also. This one is gonna be REALLY kewl

OwenM -- I think it might be nearly libelous to suggest that Darrel Ralph is about "modeled out." He has hundreds of designs locked away. In my opinion, he is one of the very few design geniuses in the knife world. I think that with no trouble, he could put together as many collaborations as the manufacturers could use.

Of course, there is a big difference between a design, and the ability to manufacture knives. A vast number of variables need to be worked out with prototypes, then somebody has to put it all into some CAD program. I'm pretty sure Darrel does all of that.

Bugs

Easy guys. We don't want any knife fights in the Camillus forum. There are too many big blades to choose from!

Search the Custom Knives forum and you might find a few Darrell Ralph designs left to choose from.... If you have any time left after you've downloaded all the pictures of different designs you can read a few of his posts and see if you end up pretty sure he knows something about CAD, too. Who knows, after you spend a few hours admiring his designs you might even find yourself answering somebody who thinks after the Arclite and the EDC there aren't many of Darrell's designs left to choose from in a tone that some might consider condescending. All without knowing him personally or ever speaking to him....

Cougar,
I did searches of most of the forums here (including the customs forum), and used a search engine, which netted more info, before I ever ordered my knives from Darrel.
I was referring to his current "lineup", and believe that a company looking to make a collaboration would want to do so with a model that is familiar to the knife-buying public (though I'm really not sure how familiar said public is with custom knives outside of people who browse the forums, or buy the knife magazines-that was how I was exposed to them).

Your insinuation that I do not know Darrel personally, and have not spoken to him is half right.
I know Darrel Ralph as a customer (and I'm a happy one). I do not pretend to be an authority on the man or his knives. I have no use for "instant experts" who like to run off at the mouth about things they have never seen or experienced.

Didn't put this here for flame fodder. It was a specific question to a specific individual about something I thought would be of general interest-otherwise it would have been in a private email.

Thanks for your time and sarcasm

I'm dying here. Somebody tell me the two new EDC variations that were announced this weekend, before I lose my mind!!!!

I think that the two versions of the EDC are the one with 420HC blade and the one with the CM154 blade.

Guys

First,
The two new EDC knives are
TALONITE blade edc folder YES TALONITE!

Next Camillus's 125 years in business!
It the anniversy model.
Its all black with gold clip ,screws, and thumber. It has a 154 cm blade! It is marked
125th anny!
There will be 1000 made! They will be marked as such.
Sweet knife.

As for designs
I have collaborated with several companies over the last few years.
These colaborations are on the market now.
I want to say that my companies of choice will be very limited now. I have done this to
focus my designs to companies I feel do the knives right, and are serious about more designs in the future.

Yes I have a vault with thousands of designs ideas to pull from. These will be brought forward when needed and the timing is right for the market. Having to many custom designs out at one time is hard for me . I dont have time to make everything and keep up. So I will focus on what is at hand for the time being.
I will dribble designs out to the right companies at the right time. This works much better for all parties involved.
Thanks for the kind words!

MADD MAXX !

Now I'm being teased BADLY!!!!!!

Do we have an expected price and date of release?

My body needs talonite!!!! My mind needs talonite!!!! My soul needs talonite!!!!

If scientists ever perfect the process of cloning humans, I submit that Darrel Ralph be first on the list so we can get more of his knives into our hands.
