sal will your knives be shipped to new york state anymore? none of the retailers will take my order

Hi Lone Ranger,

The New York "Sting" operation on "illegal knives" that was done by Cyrus Vance is an unfortunate event for the knife industry.

We'll have to see how it plays out.

That stunt pulled by D.A. Vance is nothing but public stunt that will achieve nothing but problems for honest lawbiding citizens. I hope AKTI will get something to done about. Let's hope for the best. Good luck for all New Yorker knife nuts!

Its a sad day but I hope there will be change soon. Only communists and facists want to disarm people...

While Vance's actions are reprehensible, at most they only affect New York City, and possibly only New York County (AKA Manhattan), not the entire State of New York. While a lot of people live there, that's still only 23, or at most 303, out of 47,000 square miles.

I don't know about that. At face value, yes it only affects the greater NYC area. But the secondary effect is causing large retailers to fear anything in NY State.

Coming from California I have seen this often. We have numerous, and convoluted firearm laws. Which causes people outside California, who don't have the time to spend researching all of our laws, to simply pass us over altogether when they are selling something. Even if what they are selling is clearly legal for us.

That's not what Knifecenter told me. I live outside of NYC limits and I was denied an order based on Cyrus Vance's actions. It appears that he's gathering money and resources to extend his foolish campaign for self-aggrandizement throughout the state.

I hope a sensible judge declares Vance's actions as unlawful and ends this. We'll have to wait and see.

Yet you can lawfully go out and buy a gun. Its ridiculous how certain states are trying to be "Europe".

True. While in AZ they basically lifted most restrictions on edged tools/weapons, I guess they had to put them somewhere else. Bummer.:thumbdn:

Perhaps Spyderco could make new kinds of slipjoint called New Yorker or something with miniature spidy hole (bit like in fixed blades like bushcraft and Hossom lineup) with nail nick, or hole like like DKPK forcing using two hand opening. The half-stop in spyderco current slipjoints that I have, also prevent wrist opening or similar way so they really couldn't classify such weapons as gravity knives... but since lawyers are involved they can make laws declaring moon sun and vice versa or read law making it sound like that.

Good luck with New Yorkers.
