I have a LE Meaner Street with Snake Skin micarta grips. If I use this for field dressing a deer, will the grip absorb blood and change color???

Thanks,
Happy Hunter

I agree with that about stains. I found that Micarta will hold a scent (catfish guts) for a while though. I cleaned my HD right after cleaning fish and it took weeks for the smell to get gone.

STR, thanks for the testing you have done. I don't think I will have to worry about these grips.

mhawg, I have used my BM AFCK to fillet a couple of sun fish my kids caught. Fried in butter they were tasty, but small..... I think we would have needed another fish to equal the size of a McDs chicken nugget!!

lemon or even white vinigar should clean and deoderize
I was thinking the same thing, but I wonder if the acid in the lemon could hurt micarta over time. Probably not.

Fresh lemon juice is the best thing for getting rid of fish smell. Try some on your hands next time you clean fish.

Anyone else catch the CSI episode where Sara has to take a shower with lemons to get the dead body smell off? Nasty accuracy those folks have.

in Mexico city some of the folks rub lemons under there arms for deod, it works absolutely perfect! i'm going to try it some day. also don't forget the dishwasher for cleaning your busse's, works great on mine with no damage at all.

No, it will not. Just wash it with soap and hot water.

This thread was of interest to me because of a D2 Safari Skinner I'm taking afield this fall. It's getting some kydex pants right now. Skunk, I'll try to remember to wash my hands if I field dress a whitetail with it. Usually though, I just wipe them on my pants and shirt. :p
