Will opening and closing a frame lock or a liner lock ruin the Lockbar or the lockup?

I recently acquired a spyderco sage 2 for christmas(titanium framelock). I'm in love with this knife and I plan on getting the sage 1 as well in the near future. Anyways, I have not been able to put this beauty down and I have been opening and closing it constantly because it has become my new fondleing knife. Is this going to wear the knife out if I continue doing this?

I would say yes. It will wear and tear after a while. It would take a long time to do so, though. Years, if the handle and blade materials are well-made, which I'm certain they are, given that it's a Spyderco. It would also end up wearing out the lock itself, not necessarily the blade. The blade is a harder material than that of the handle. I think it'll be fine, depending on how late the lockup is and how frequently you open and close it. Might be years before you see any issues.

I mean, if you walk around 10 hours a day for several months just constantly opening and closing the thing, then I suppose that could wear it out, but your hand would probably get tired before you hurt a Spyderco, or any other quality knife. Now, if you're using inertial openings (flicking the blade open with a snap of the wrist, Spyder drop technique, etc.) that does wear on the lock mechanism pretty quickly, and can cause lock failure if done enough, but just thumb opening it should go for a really long time. The pivot pin might get loose, but a quick turn of the right size Torx screwdriver and you're as good as new.
