Following the recent horrible events and the inevitable military action will Randall Knives give preferance to Military Personnel?
I would think a company that has a history of providing fighting knives to service men and whose reputation was basically built during WW II Randall Made Knives would be leading the charge of the other knife companies giving either a discount or preferance to the Armed Forces. I don't mean this question to sound negitive or question the companies patriotism, I would just like to know.

The word we recieved in the shop is that we will be incresing production of model #1 and #14. I haven't heard if we will be giving preference to active duty personnel as we did in past conflicts.

You can call the shop at 407-855-8075 to find out the official word

Dwight, thanks for the reply, I also take it that when you you say "we" you are part of the Randall Team(?). If this is true then thank you and keep up the great work.

I can only speak from my own experience but......... I called Gary on Monday Sept. 17th and ordered a #15 Airman for my nehpew who is the navigation officer on a B1-B. I asked if they would etch his name and rank on the blade as well. I received the knife on Thursday the 20th. My nephew got it on Sunday the 23th by Express mail. Gary doesn't know me from Adam but he really came through.

I talked with Scott Maynard about this and he said yes they are. But!!! You must prove you are military and in need of fast service. //// Rhett

Does that apply to the British army now we are joining you on the ground? Thing is a friend of mine wants a model 2 (8") but does not want to get involved in any way:rolleyes: ... typical.

If I can't get that model I will just get him a Tai Pan from Cold Steel, so I am not really bothered, but would in principal this be possible if I were to get a scan of his British Army card etc? I think he is more than a little worried about officers being contacted about him buying some 'special' knife...

In the Army and a sheeple through and through:confused:

Oh and I want a Model 1 for myself...:D Just guess I will have to save up and get on the list:cool:

Wayne, it seems that you have done as much as you can for your buddy and that he needs to put in a little effort to get a Randall if that is what he wants. If not, I guess he will have to live with something less.

I agree! To be honest it is my fault for selling him 'up' to a brand like Randall. He would have been perfectly happy with a Cold Steel or a Bocker knife. I have left it for him to decide now.

Today was the first time I had a look at Randall's range of knives I love Model #1 but I was wondering dos it come in non reflective finis?

Hay General so how dos the British army look at solders buying there own knives?

P.S. I am not in the military yet but I want to join in early 2002 and I'm looking in to the utility/fighter market of knives.

Well, my friend just does not want any phone calls or e-mails going to his bosses about buying a knife. I can understand this attitude.

In such a line of work, weapon fetishes are a bad thing... Even if it is for a good cause, I don't think the military like soldiers buying non standard equipment and it is frowned upon. His attitude is once its bought... if it becomes a problem, he will deal with it.

I think he just figured I could get a better price than he ever could and with my contacts and links, save him any work finding and ordering. I think he is looseing interest now it looks like UK mainstream forces will not be involved in the conflict in any large numbers.

Have a good one.:)

RMK didn't give me any preferential treatment. But I didn't really ask for it, I just said I was Army SF and might deploy soon, and asked if any model 14's were in stock. I got a pretty short response: "sorry, nothing in stock." I suppose I should have asked directly, instead of hinting around, but I don't like asking for favors.

No worries though. A nice fellow on Knifeforums sold me a mid-80's RMK #14 for a decent price, less than I would have paid on e-bay for sure, and not much more than I would have paid to get one new from the factory.

Fallschrimjager,
I just wanted to tell you that you've mispelled your username. It's Fallschirmjager, which means 'paratrooper' in German and not Fallschrimjager which has no meaning.
I know it's off the subject but I wanted to give you a heads up.
By the way, why German for an American soldier??

First post.
After I ordered my first Randall back in '85, I had a real need for gratification so I called the retail number at Randall to see if they had any available and they did, eventually --persistence counts.

I received a Randall #1-7, a Randall #5 and a Randall #14 by calling direct and buying from their available (not special ordered) stock. On some calls nothing on hand was interesting, on other calls I got lucky. I had a compass installed in the #5 prior to shipment, the others I accepted straight. These weren't seconds, I don't think Randall does seconds, but they were knives made without a specific order. I don't know if Randall Knives still has this purchase option available, but it's worth a shot. Some where in Virginia Beach I also found Randalls 10-5 and 18, great knives.

The #14 I originally ordered caught up with me in Spain (Navy) and I had some mods done to it before delivery based on what I'd done to my first #14. It came to me perfect and is still in the box 15 years later. The first #14 was parkerized and became my "do everything, go anywhere" knife; it is two feet from me as I type -- razor sharp.
