Hey new member here

I am looking for a new fishing/bait knife in a reasonable price range. Not so much that I dont want to spend too much, but that I cant bring myself to use a really nice knife.:foot:
Anyway, The field pup looks like it can be had for a really reasonable price with a quality blade; therefore I dont mind using the heck out of it.

What do you think ?
Thanks
Jed

The pup is almost too nice a knife to be put to such use, but if you don't mind the wear and tear, you won't be disappointed. The comfortable handle shape and the high blade grind are winners.

A lot of your fishing buddies are going to be quite jealous!

Sounds like it will fit your needs perfectly. The SEAL pup is pretty good too but I'm always partial to that series :)

Ya I like the seal pup too, but that knife seems over kill for fishing and too nice for me to use.
It looks like the field pup can be had for around 45-50 dollars shipped.
I am a little weary of the sheath though.
anyone have any feedback on the sheath that comes with the Field Pup?
Thanks
Jed

Yes the SEAL pup could be considered overkill for fishing but it was intended to be used (a knife unused is a knife abused). I'd get the original SEAL pup (no the elite) just because its sheath seems to be better than the field pup and its not as imposing as the elite

Knives are made to use. Great knife your intended purpose. Should also be a great general purpose knife hunting, along the trail, or around the house. You'll know what I mean after you handle one.
