Will SOG use BG-42 in other blade styles ...

I have recently begun looking at the SOG line and like what I have seen so far, especially the BG-42 models. However, the BG-42 models appear to be offered only in the Tanto configuration. Will SOG be offering this steel on other formats (clip point or drop point) in folders or fixed blades? Thanks!

P.S. What sort of time frame would we expect to see knives like this in the marketplace? Blade Show this year? Shot Show next year?

Hi Sid,

SOG has for years offered a variety of steels. The X-42 AutoClip models and the X-42 Recondo models for 2001 release dates (all with geometrically faceted tips) come with BG-42 steel.

As new models are designed and considered for 2002 releases, then introduced at the 2002 SHOT Show, BG-42 will certainly be a steel targeted for selected models. (How's that for being vague?)

We will always offer a variety of steels. BG-42 is certainly one we are very excited about using more.
