I remember seeing this in a thread regarding the issues and quirks about the 560/561 but I can't seem to find the exact post. I see a lot of pics on here and realize most of them are from soon after you receive the knife. I wonder if the 550/551 and 560/561 are getting used to their full potential. I will be the first to admit that I have not used my 0550 that I got yesterday to anywhere near its potential. Since I am assuming it was designed to do more than shave some arm hair:)

I am wondering, what are your experiences with these newer ZT offerings? Has anyone REALLY put them through their paces yet in day to day heavy use. It certainly seems as if they are designed for such work. I am looking forward to the time when that heft and "overbuiltness" will come in handy (although I am not going to create an artificial reason to do so). What have you put your new 0550/0560 series knives through? Has use changed or strengthened your opinions? Is cost a factor in the way you use (or don't) use it? Pics always make threads good, sorry I don't have any. Pics of used 0550/0560's would be even better!

Also, the 0560 seems to overshadow the 0550 a bit, for good reasons I suppose. Are there more 0560s out in the wild than 0550s? or is just that much better/more coveted?

Mike.

I think the 0560 is a much better package. I use it nearly everyday. I use it to cut things and light prying (i.e. staple removal) and it serves my purposes very well.

550 in my pocket now use it everyday so far, from some food prep to breaking down boxes and cutting rope.. so no real hard use. I am loving it so far have some yellow scales on the way hoping to make it look a little more friendly to the public eye.

I have a OD green on mine, I think although it looks "army" it still looks less menacing than the black. There are so many good colors out there, I might get another just to switch it up every once in a while. Have you seen Reeeks? The 550 looks great in Yellow. It would be a great choice IMO.

I've had a 0551 sense the day they came out and its been used with no mercy. I don't abuse and destroy my tools though some of my used could be called abuse.

It's done all the normal things like open mail cut a box or trim some string, but its also gone camping and carved a spoon, made kindling for fire, and prepared the meals to eat. It's been to work stripping wire or poking a hole in drywall, cleaning up the end of a cut board, scrapping glue, cutting carpet and padding,

I do everything with my 0551, I purchased this knife as a do all be all knife for ME and its performed without fault. After using it for over a year my impressions of its strength and usefulness have increased dramatically. Recently I put it through some heavy use when helping with the clean-up from a tornado that touched down in our state. I was sure some of the prying and outright abusive tasks I performed with this knife would have damaged it in some way, but no, besides pocket wear you would think I baby my knife.

My 0550 no longer seems bulky and menacing....in fact, it feels very "normal" to me anymore......I use it for everything and anything a knife should be used for....including buttering my tortillas....

just got my 0560 about 10 days ago. I've been using it for cutting and did pry some staples from a cardboard shipping tube. the prying did cause some bending of the edge, but that is expected. More importantly, this is a heavy built knife that doesn't make itself feel heavy in the pocket, makeing it a great EDC
