Will Spyderco sharpen a second?

99% sure that spyderco won't touch a second.

I think they will because it is a Spyderco. It is not under warranty like a new one but since it their product and your paying for it to be sharpened.

Second are products that didn't meet complete approval because of minor flaws but are still good to use.

i didnt even know they sharpen their knives!

i have a 12yr old endura full serrated...will they sharpen it for $5??

sharpening is free. you pay for shipping. I think they will sharpen any spyderco, first or second =)

but no warranty for other QC for seconds, I think - although Spydie's customer service is such that if they can help you, they will....

I think the sharpening service is separate from W&R and available to any Spydie out there. I am pretty sure the will sharpen it for the $5 shipping and handling.

Hi Garage Boy. Your question has provoked some discussion. We're still discussing.

GB, IIRC, you're starting out using freehand sharpening. That's laudible, but I suggest you invest in a 204 Sharpmaker. Spydies come from the factory ground so that a Sharpmaker will get them razor sharp in minutes -- as good or better than the factory edge. It's a whole lot easier than freehand, and the results are incredible.

I've never sent a knife to Spyderco to be sharpened, and maybe they'd get it scary sharp, but for "mere" shaving sharpness the 204 excels.

I was gonna have the bevels reset. Thanks Mr Glesser! Please provide me with an answer before I send?

They will not reset the bevels.I sent in a PE Wegner and asked that it be sharpened to the same bevel as a Military but came back the same way I sent it.

Sorry GB. :footinmou I kind of assumed you were talking about your Calypso, Jr., which IIRC, you once were hesitent to sharpen(?). Anyway, as good as the 204 is, it could take hours to set a new bevel on a severely damaged blade (although I understand you could shorten the process with the diamond rods or by taping course sandpaper to the rods).

Hi Garage Boy. Sounds like a regrind and not a sharpening. This means it has to go into the factory. There is a $20 fee attached to regrinding + the $5 shipping & handling. You may want to do it yourself?
