Will swapping a V for convex add or decrease resale value?

I was thinking about having some convex edges professionally applied to a couple users (that I don't ever plan on reselling) because almost everyone here swears by convex for durability and ease of sharpening. I was wondering if anyone has any insight in regards to convexing a safe queen like an FBMLE or SS hogfsh and whether it will keep its value or decrease in value. I am not planning on selling these any time soon, but if I ever had to, I would not want to ruin the value of an unaltered piece. I am assuming that it would decrease the value the same way that adding twin turbos to a numbers matching '67 Vette would, but alot of people on here might see it as an enhancement if it is done right. Any advice much appreciated.

If you want to keep the resale value send it in to Garth and have him put the convex edge on it for you. I have done that in the past and was very happy with the results.

If they are users, then I don't imagine that changing the edge profile will have much effect on future resale, and who does it should not matter much either.

If you are talking safe queen, then either don't alter it, or have it done by BCS.

I think sharpening a "user" makes obvious sense and a razor sharp user should command more of a premium than a dull factory edge that has been used and not sharpened .....

I guess it is down to your sharpening skills whether or not people might be concerned .... but equally "concern" can also be misplaced ....

There is still the odd post on here about sharpening with a belt sander can cause heat treatment issues or invalidate a warranty .....

Where as to alter the heat treatment of the knife you would need it to be taken to the same temperature as a cooling cycle used in the heat treatment process .... at those sort of temperatures (say around 200 degrees C for tempering and 700 degrees C for hardening ) the handles attached to it would be on fire and you would not be holding the blade for long .... so altering the HT by sharpening on a belt sander just cannot be done .... and the issue of them affecting the warranty has been sorted by Jerry a while back when he made it clear that this would not do so .... but despite these "truths" the "fictions" can still come back to life and create a sense of insecurity .....

At the minute though the edge is not your main problem on resale value .... it is the economy ..... so if the knives are users you might as well give them the best edge you can and enjoy them ....

Thanks for all the advice, I think for now I'll keep the LE's with their factory edges and maybe get a convex edge put on a BWM and maybe a dssf or boss street and see where it goes from there.

If you are going to pay soneone to do the convexing, Ban and Norcalblacktail, richardJ, and a few others on here are well known for quality convexing.

The Busse shop can do it as well, then it is not "aftermarket"

I would not do it to a safe queen at all.

I did convex a Fbmle to improve chopping, but it was already modded before I did that. Any resale value hit had already been taken off the top before I got it.

Why would you consider modding a safe queen? If it's a user...who cares, you have already compromised the value with the first usage

Maybe I didn't understand the question?

I guess I was wondering if putting a convex on it would hurt the value even though it's fairly costly and is considered to be a superior edge by alot of ppl on here.
