Hi, Boston and several other cities in Massachusetts have a blade length limit of 2.5 inches.

What's the Techno 2 blade length?

Thanks

No specs out yet on the Techno 2, the original Techno was 2.55'' so technically (lol) illegal unless being carried for work that requires a knife.

I was hoping to get a response from someone at Spyderco who knows the specs / blade length. Thanks for your response.

According to SpydieCollector it's 6.5 cm which translates to 2.559 in. That was the first thing I looked for. When I was working in Boston I always went with small traditionals or SAK Classic both due to the law and nature of the knife's use in an office. In what other MA cities is that a limit?

Lawrence where I work and Lowell where my girlfriend lives. Also Lynn but no one ever goes there lol

I really wish they could have made the blade length on the Techno 2 to be 2.49 inches. Would have helped sales.

Have you checked out the Olamic Busker? Its blade is 2.375" and is an awesome knife although twice as much or so as the Techno.

I'm familiar with the Busker from the you tube review of Nick Shabazz. Agree it would meet or exceed my needs $$$

Hey OP,

Another option for you. You can get the blade professionally shortened just a fraction of an inch and it will meet the length requirement. I did that with my Domino and it's impossible to tell the difference. You can use any of the custom service providers here on the forum. I used RazorEdge and they did great work.

Would that void the warranty?

That's debatable. My understanding is you need to negligent your knife to void the warranty, but I'm not the arbiter of warranties either. It's possible with so little taken off that anyone would notice it wasn't stock.

I know this isn't really the place for it but since you brought it up...

It's crazy to think that the items some of us stuff in our pockets on the way out the door without a second thought are prohibited and could get you prison time in other parts of the country :poop:

Yes I believe it would, however I don't think warranty would matter if you're in Boston using a small blade for EDC. From what I gather the Techno 2 is thinner and slicier so I imagine you'd be using it more for boxes, packages, strings, ties, etc. Nothing that would damage the knife to require activating the warranty.

Where do you live?

Texas. Any kind of blade is now legal to carry, plus we have LTC for people who don't have serious or recent criminal records.
