Will the Microtec LUDT open in the pocket?

Hello.

I am thinking about buying the Microtec auto LUDT knife.

But i am worried that the blade will open in my pocket if some pressure is added to my pocket since it has a pushbutton.

Has anyone here tried to EDC this beautiful knife?

I also wonder if this is a knife that will hold for like i lifetime if you dont abbuse it or open it 50 times aday. Or is the auto-function so hard that the knife will eventualy break beacause of the impact that occurs when you open it?

I also wonder if the tension in the autosystem eventualy will wear of. And if that happens, will the knife then function as a normal folder?

Thank you for answers.

Autos are safe with normal activity without any safety. For edc they are great. It takes a good amount of pressure to open so the chances of opening in your pocket are next to zero.

That said i have a few with safeties that i use if I'm rolling around and playing with my kids. A kid jumping on your lap could trigger an auto for sure.

The choil spring in autos are stout and if they ever did loose tension you just send back to the factory for another. Thats however where I'd stay away from MT as the customer service rep is not good.

Pay attention to YM's last paragraph.
I'll keep my experience short as possible.
I have 2 LUDTs. Great looking knife with great action & excellent steel.
Both of mine broke springs in the first month. Customer service is NOT high up on Microtech's priorities list.
Blade HQ had to step in for me and send them to MT. 4 months later I got them back with scratches and un centered blades.
They have the worst CS in the industry.
I do like the knives, but would strongly recommend going with a Pro Tech TR-3 if you'd like a great auto from a fantastic company with excellent CS! They fire harder and fit the hand better.

Pics cause why not?

Oooooops!!!!
Forgot one thing......after carrying autos for years, I've never had one open in my pocket.

I carry a LUDT in my back pocket and never have had an issue with it accidentally firing. While I cannot personally speak to microtech's customer service I have no reason to doubt others poor experiences with them. However, I've owned autos produced by benchmade, kershaw, and protech and microtech has been the hardest firing and has had the best overall fit and finish (I've owned two LUDTs).

I personally like the kershaw launch over the protech tr-3 but thats just my humble opinion.

Joe speaks the truth. Microtech is one of the worst knife companies in the world, though they do make some decent knives and push button autos of good quality are perfectly safe.

I carried a Protech CQC7 for years in my back pocket. So I sat on it frequently and never once had an issue.

PS: Get a Protech.

Carried a Benchmade Auto Stryker everyday for almost 14 years, it did open in my pocket 2 times....not a bad record if you ask me. As for MT...there nothing but letter openers at best.

Brandon!!!! How've ya been brother???
Have a BM Mini Infidel, Mini Reflex and a brand new, old stock, Spike auto! Excellent autos!!

The launch series don't offer spring tension through the complete arc of opening. This can compromise the consistency of opening.
I love ludt for a side opener, but microtech is a crappy company to deal with for warranty issues.
Never had one open in my pocket.....

Yup! Exactly what was happening with my 1 and 3. Unless held spine straight up, neither of mine would lock up. They bounced off the stop pin.......every single time. At least till both of them broke springs in a couple months.

Doing good Joe! look at you going platinum on us getting all fanshy smanshy! lol. Drop me a line sometime, you coming up to do some fishing this year?

--The only problem I had with the auto striker was the fire button was made out of aluminum and started to wear thin in one place. It didnt like to stay very sharp very long either. :(

You got it Joe. I think you get what you pay for with those. The only switches I still own are microtech and dalton. They fire like no tomorrow.
