Will the mini freek kill the mini grip?

My brother recently bought a Mini Freek. He's been carrying a Ritter Mini Grip for many years.

When we got back to his house, we examined each knife extensively. We both came to the conclusion that the Mini Freek was better in almost every way.

Slightly longer in blade and handle length.
Handle feels better in hand, scales feel better.
Blade seems to be ground slightly thinner although the blade thickness is the same. I believe the flat grind was a little higher.
Better steel (IMO)
Lighter by a hair.

The only negative we found was the handle was slightly thicker. .51 vs .59 I think.

Any Mini Freek owners out there?

Haven't got one yet, but it's on my list. I've handled the full size Freek but never bought one.

I do like the scale material as I bought a new Grizzly Ridge a month or so ago and the grip is awesome.

Got mine Monday one of the best fit and finishes out of the box a couple hours of flicking open and closed with Nano oil it is perfect with zero blade play which is rare right out of the box with no adjustments. For the same reasons that people love the Doug Ritter over the standard they will love this the blades are near identical in shape and grind. Larger hands will enjoy the added length and grippy-ness. For me if I can get aftermarket g-10 for it and slim it down a bit toward the sequel then it might be a home run for me.

If it were thinner, it would replace my 707 no doubt

I really like the mini freek, however, I don't like how it pockets with the way that the handles grab cloth. If it were less grippy, I would agree.

I don't think so. The same applies to what everyone was saying last year when the full sized Freek came out last year (how it might kill the Grip). They are two very similar knives but also have some key differences. Plus, with the -1 models of the Grip being available, that offers enough of a difference, IMO, to keep both around.

Agreed. Very confident feeling grip but with the downside being hard to slide in and out of a pocket. One of a few knives I carry clipless.

I always thought BM though the Freek would fill the Ritter slot, however the scales are what we in the Uk would call “a bit Marmite” you love or hate them.
I think they should have used valox and saved the funky rubber for another knife, but, when the aftermarket scale boys get tooled up these things will get a new lease.
IMHO

Aftermarket scales could make it hard to beat.

I never feel like the liners are an issue, they’re all the same design some just shorter, The Bugout liners are very short and most wax lyrical about the knife.

my issue when I handled one for a few mins was putting it in my pocket and deployment from pocket. the rubber grip sticks. its not the best. not a bad knife overall.

I hope not. I like the size of the Mini Freek more than the MG but every single Versaflex handle I've touched feels greasy. I actually hate it, I'll take Grivory or G10 every day of the week and twice on Sunday over VF. I've actually handled about 14 different VF handled BMs and they all felt the same. I even thought it was because others had handled the floor models as did the clerk so he got out a bunch of untouched examples and he agreed that they felt slickish. I hope they don't switch to VF for everything.

I have only handled a freek, and I didn't like it at all. It felt weird to me. I was hoping it would replace my mini grip which never did it for me. Then I felt a North Fork. It was exactly what I was looking for. Then I bought a Bugout on a whim I saw for a steal. It is tough between those two but they just feel better to me than the freeks scales.

I much prefer the Grip, especially in a -1 or Ritter configuration. I understand the reason for the textured scales but they just did not work with me.
