Hi Everyone

I really like the para2, but im not able to source one locally and cant really test out the knife in person.. I have an old spyderco salsa and the compression lock pinches the meat of my palm whenever i open it. I was wondering if this happens to anyone with the para 2, i get that the salsa is an older knife, so things may have changed wit hthe design.

I've had my finger tip pinched when trying to open/close but it's not major and I just use less tip when pinching. No issues with spydie hole opening or finger flick.

I have definitely been pinched in the flesh between my first and second knuckle on my pointer finger by PM2s. Did not put me off from the knife though. Doesn't hurt me, just enough to feel it.

I've been pinched a few times by mine, four or five times at most out of hundreds of openings.

It's something that'll most likely happen to you at some point, just not all the time.

Hmmmmm, I've never been pinched by mine in the palm. I have pinched my finger tip once or twice but no big deal. I suppose its possible, but doesn't sound like it is a major issue for anyone.

never gotten pinched palm or fingers? how does that happen? I'm struggling to see how palm or finger would get into the lock and scale on open? some super tight grip and lots of palm or finger meat when opening or......?

Right. I tried to pinch myself but could not. Maybe I am missing the technique of pinching? ;)

Yeah, when I got my first pm2 it grabbed me a few times. But I learned to adjust my grip so it doesn't happen anymore. That and I spydieflick most of the time.

PS. I'm a leftie with right handed knives.

Interesting that my PM 2 has never pinched me, but my Para 3 does every once and awhile. I figure it just makes me tougher.

If you push your finger too much into the lock bar when activating it, your fingertip will get pinched on release. I just developed muscle memory to not push so hard. I'll see if I can get a better explanation when I get home, my PM2 is on my desk.

I've heard of people being pinched by the compression lock but I also can't figure out how it happens. I have several compression lock knives and I've never been pinched. I assume I hold the knives different than some others when I'm opening and closing.

Mine don't pinch me, especially after I have been handling / using them a bunch now for years.
But
once in a while it does kind of slap my finger a little tiny bit. Not my palm ever just on my index finger higher up.
WORTH IT !
I love the compressing lock on the Para2s.

I've never been pinched ... and like a few others I'm not really sure what grip you use that you are getting pinched.

I must open it differently than most.

Here's the fingertip pinch. When opening it using the compression lock, or too a lesser extent when closing it, and you push too much into the lock, the bar pinches your fingertip.

I'm right handed, sometimes when I open mine with my left hand I get pinched. Doesn't happen when I open with my right hand.

The pinching is upon the knife locking open, not when closing.

Don't have a PM2 on me but here's a Shaman (Shaman doesn't pinch me, lock cut out is different)

After the blade is open, the lock bar springs over and can pinch your flesh between lock and handle. This Shaman doesn't pinch me, but you can see where the actual pinching would happen on a PM2.
