Will the Sheath designed for the ESEE RC-6 adequately fit my Fallkniven A1?

Hello. My normal handle is just tower, but it was taken. I'm brand new here. The compilation of knowledge here is a little intimidating, so please go easy on me. I just got my first 3 posts in so I can finally ask my first question. I am a ski patrolman and own a Fallkniven A1. I am dis-enamored of the factory plastic sheath. I can't even get a Tek Lok on it because of the fins. So (finally) here's my question: Will the Kydex designed for the ESEE RC-6 adequately fit my A1? I really like the PSK nylon attachments for the sheath. My main concern is the guard engagement with the primary latching mechanism of the Kydex. I am decent with a Dremel if it can be made to work. Thank you!

Unless it's the exact same knife, kydex sheaths aren't interchangeable without molding it to the new knife.

Thank you, Mike. The guards look similar to me, but not identical. Can I remold factory kydex with heat? I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the sheath purchase, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

The ESEE 6 sheath is not made from kydex. It is an injection molded plastic. Similar to the zytel sheath from Fallkniven. However, just like a kydex sheath, it is formed to fit a particular knife. I would imagine it would not work. Your best option would be to have a kydex sheath made that would accept a Tek lok. There are sheath makers on this forum that could do this for you if you are unable to. Good luck.

Thank you MtnDude and Mr. Clean for your replies. I will see how far off I am when the rig arrives from ESEE. I will post whatever problems or solutions I encounter. Bummer about the sheath... So much for heat molding. Time to create a Plan B.

Plan B: Have one custom made in Kydex, you'll be glad you did. It will look pretty sweet in that nylon rigging.

Thank you. That will likely be the route I go. I just want a chance to play around w the factory sheath to see if I can somehow make it work. Once I'm frustrated and out of options, I'm sure I'll be asking you guys who I should have bend my kydex. Happy new year all.

Well, as expected, you were all right. The A1 WILL go into the sheath and hold... hold much too well. I neglected to consider the comparative blade thicknesses. The ESEE-5 is the same thickness as the A1, specifically, 0.250" max. But the ESEE-6 is a mere 0.188 max. So, with the A1 forced into it, I immersed the sheath in boiling water hoping to reform things. Amazing! It worked fairly well... until the sheath cooled. Then the dreaded "memory" took over. After cooling in the freezer, all I got for my trouble was a rust spot on either side at the micro-choil of my "stainless" blade. A little Nevr-Dull work took care of that. Now for plan B.

Hopefully the boiling water did not ruin the handle on the knife. I have not found Krayton to respond too well to high heat.

I took it off the stove and waited for bubbling to abate so I doubt the handle even touched the water. There's no visual evidence of any damage, but thank you, BFT. That's very good for me to know.
