Will the value of older CRKTs go up?

Will the value of older CRKT knives go up since the newer CRKT knives are made from lower grade steels (AUS 4, 420JS2)? Will there be increased demand for older AUS 118 & ATS 34 CRKT knives? Will AUS 8 eventually be replaced with a lower grade steel?

It is highly unlikely that this will create a demand that would cause the value of the older knives to increase. The older knives may retain their value better than the new ones. That is something that remains to be seen.
 
Your only chance would be if a certan smith dies and all of his collaborations sky rocket. I wouldn't count on it.
 
A problem with the values appreciating is that you'll have to prove that your knife was manufactured before 2005, since the new ones look, as far as I know, identical to the older ones.
 
Only way to know is to have the original paper fold out with in the original box. Does any one know if the original paper fold out has a year printed on it?

I doubt it as there were so many made. Also the type of steel would only be of interest, in most cases anyway, to someone who would use the knife. The older and newer knives are basically identical, except for the steel of course. If the value were to go up it would most likely be to a collector, as a user could just as easily buy a different user knife for the same money.
 
CRKT knives are plentiful when new at a variety of prices below the MSRP. The value of CRKT knives drop as soon as they are bought. CRKT has no collector base, thus no collector vaule. Their knives usually resell at about 50% of MSRP. When the knife model is closed out CKRT severly discounts them, some moldels can be found at about 30% MSRP.
