Just asking, good size knife but liner locks are weak and want somtehing shorter than a leek. Chive is too small and the warncliff one is too slow.

DMK, I've carried the Scallion for about two months now. I've been rough on it, too. I can say that it will open a #10 size can of tomato juice with ease...just put the tip on the rim of the can and push!

Unless you'll be using them as tree gaffs, I don't think you need to worry. Hell, I'll bet if you can get it stuck far enough in a telephone pole, you could stand on it (Disclaimer: I am not suggesting you do this. Splinters from telephone poles have been known to cause nasty splinters, and subsequent infections).

It's a strong lock, don't worry about it coming back on you.

I have both a leek and a scallion and a leek with a liner lock. My scallion is over a year old and i have never once had a lock failure from either knife.

Count me as someone who would also like a frame lock scallion.

After the Shallot comes out, I'd love to be able to add a stainless steel scallion to the family to match the rest. That'd be a nice looking family!

thanks but I dont trust any liner locks at all. Hope Kershaw makes one Id buy a bunch.

I've had my scallion for over 3 years and carried it at work for 2 years and use it everyday. I haven't had any problems with mine.

I wanted to bring this thread back up as I think this is a great idea. Most days my EDC is my Chive as it hangs on my keychain. I would love to be able to use my Scallion as my EDC keychain knife but that presents a problem to me. To carry my Chive on my keychain I put the small key ring from a SAK through the lanyard hole and attached it to my regular key ring that way. The SAK key rings just don't fit through the Scallion because of the extra width added by the scales and liners construction. The Scallion would be a much better EDC for me lengthwise but because of the bulkier construction is not conducive to keychain carry for me like I like. So, please, Kershaw make us a frame lock Scallion.

Oh, and on top of that, the Scallion is kinda the red-headed step-child of the Chive/Scallion/Leek/Shallot series being the only one not available with the SS framelock handles and needs to fit in with the rest of its brethren.

Yea, we have talked about it more times than I can remember, but still have not pulled the trigger on a frame lock Scallion. Would be easy enough, I'll bring it up again.

Thanks! Hope you can get em to listen.

And since I will be buying another Kershaw when you make this SS framelock Scallion, go ahead and use ZDP...hell, just go ahead and make it another Ti/ZDP combo...if that's not possible, PLEASE tap the handle so it can be carried tip up!

I think we'd all like the see the Scallion done up in a high end way (Ti/ZDP, with a frame lock and reversible clip). What a great addition to the line up it'd be, I tell ya............

Not me, all I really want out of this thread is a standard SS framelock Scallion like the Leek, Chive, and Shallot.
