Will there be another run of the Brad Southard Flipper?

Question is in the title of the thread - I missed out first time round and would definitely be in if it gets another run.

Does anyone know anything about whether this is at all likely?

Thanks!

Ben

I'm sure there will be it's a regular production model.

I'd bet on multiple runs in the future. From the looks of it, the Southard is a huge success for Spyderco. It brought over fans from Benchmade who don't like leaf shaped blades and choils as well as Kerhsaw fans who love flippers. And yet most Spyderco fans love it too. Oh yeah, it's a homerun.

One more thing. I emailed Spyderco about a week ago and was told that it would be 60-90 days before these are back in the channel. I was also told that they are significantly backordered. No surprise there!
Speaking of hard to find Spydercos, how about that Native5 Titanium. Talk about rare.

The Southard is, hands down, my favorite Spyderco. A Spydie hole but also a narrow profile and light in weight. Great smooth flipper action. Thick blade but a fine cutting edge as well. Robust titanium frame lock. It covers so many bases. My minor issue is with the tan G10 -- bland. My LSCF scale is coming in soon. Need to get another one as a backup.

Would love to see a scaled down version of the Southard with a 3 inch blade for places where it's needed and may as well add the CF scale. I thought the Domino would be it, and mind you it's great, but the wide blade / profile occupies too much pocket space for me.

Yeah, whilst I don't have one I'm utterly bored by black G10. The brown would work for me...

I intend to stop buying knives for awhile after I get a Southard

At least until the next run of Blue Paras..

I am a dealer of one of Spyderco distributors and was given end of September as the date when Southards will be back in stock

It would be difficult to agree with you more than I agree with this post. Southard is my favorite Spyderco knife, check. Love it for the same reasons, check. Disliked the tan scale and had it redone in LSCF, check. Want them to hit stores again just to buy a spare, check. Love the idea of a mini Southard that comes prettied up, check. Underwhelmed by the Domino, check.

I usually enjoy making pointless arguments just for the fun of it, but all I have left to do here is to commend you on your fantastic taste instead ;)

I wonder how a Southard sprint run would do?

I think it would be a slamming success. I know I would love a variation of the southard. I personally would like to see something other than carbon fiber though. Maybe some silver twill or a solid titanium version with a satin blade.

A mini Southard with a 3" blade would open up a whole segment. I'd get two immediately. There are places in SoCal where you can't have a folder with a blade longer than 3"

Unfortunately, it may compete with the Domino for many. So, I don't see the chances of that happening soon very good.

Sure a full titanium Southard would be great but I think the added weight would take it from the current 4.1 ounces to probably 5-5.5 ounces. Since it's a sprint run that should be fine... Even a version where almost everything (clip, screws, blade) had the same dark gray of the titanium side.
