I love my my G-10 Caly 3, and I really want the 3.5. It's just so similar to the Caly 3, not to mention I really want the Caly 3 in Carbon Fibre and ZDP, so I was curious if there is a Carbon Fibre 3.5 in the works?

I think this would convince me to pull the trigger on the Caly 3.5, if anyone has the 3 (G-10) and the 3.5 and thinks that the 3.5 is worth the upgrade, please chime in with your thoughts.

Wouldn't mind seeing a version of it with either the peel ply CF used on the Stretch or the textured twill CF used on the Sage I and several of the other models built in Taiwan. Same CF as on the Caly 3, not really. And, unless and until Moki can work with solid ZDP-189, then no thanks on that either. The laminated stuff just doesn't do anything for me.

What's your issue with laminated ZDP, it had the same cutting edge and it looks cool?

The laminated Caly 3 turned me off, too. That and the pinned construction. I think the lamination line looks like crap first and foremost, and the 420J seemed to scratch like crazy due to being so soft. I loved my Sages and I still EDC my Lum Chinese ZDP, so +1 for the full ZDP and Sage CF.

...perhaps Spyderco could arrange for Moki to use a bit harder laminate, if it didn't appreciably increase production and retail costs. Just a thought. It seems slightly counterintuitive to "upscale" the Caly3 with a carbon fiber handle only to laminate the ZDP blade with a stainless so soft that it scratches if you sneeze in it's direction. I'm sure that Spyderco facilitates the use of that laminate for perfectly logical reasons, which will no doubt high-light my ignorance. :)

+1 The same here.
Please, no laminated blade for Caly3.5, please solid steel.Regarding CF, for me finish on Taiwanise knives is the best, peel ply on para2 is close second. I do not have Stretch, so cannot comment. CF on Superhawk probably is close, it is OK, but not something I would love to see on one more knife.
It is too bad that these is no more talks about Caly3.5 with Cocobolo and bolsters :grumpy:

I asked this question on the Spyderco forum 5 days ago. This is what Sal said:

"We're showing a concept model at SHOT. No plans yet. Still collecting info."
