Will there ever be a Military 2?

Maybe one with a tip up carry option? I know the military has a very good reputation but I highly prefer my knives to be tip up and I feel that's the only thing that has kept me away from the military.

Many are of the opinion that the Military can't be improved but I would like to see the compression lock incorporated into it. I just think its a more elegant solution than the liner lock. Personally I think the tip down option is ideal for the knife. As the knife is drawn from the pocket the knife rotates into the hand and the opening hole just falls naturally under the thumb. Its a very logical placement.

i prefer another locking system other than a liner lock and brittle tip

Well, there is the framelock... But if you change the tip you absolutely kill the military. Oh, and it's far from brittle.

IMO it is perfect as is. I'd beinterested in other lock types, but not much. Tip up on a knife this size means you will have a much more inconvenient draw and open, with much hand repositioning to get settled.

There is simply not enough to be changed to make a millie2. The handle and blade profile can not be improved upon. If it doesn't currently suit you, then find one of their myriads of knives that do. Don't mess with perfection.

There is nothing wrong with the tip of the military. It is not fragile in the least...when you are cutting or piercing, unless you are trying to pierce solid/ rigid materials (ya know, like stone)which you may very well be doing.

Tip down is my preferred orientation.

I believe the "stop lock" is slated for the next iteration of the military.

Long time since I heard anything about the Millie 2. I know it's supposed to have a stop lock and four way clip. I remember it was also said that the grind would be exactly the same. Other than that I don't know anything. Maybe Sal can chime in about it.

I know it may not be as fast to open carrying tip up but that's not what I'm going for with it. I love tip up because when its in my pocket my hand slides down the back of the handle instead of the sharp corner of the knife spine.

I have never seen the need for a folder that big for EDC, but if they put the compression lock it I may just have to get one!

I agree with 00ChevyScott. Tip-up carry is what I prefer and it's what's keeping me from buying the Military. So I'd like to see that change and wouldn't mind a compression lock either. Of course Spyderco isn't going to go under by leaving the Military as is:D, and I do like lots of their other products.

Cheers,
Isaeus

I really hope they come out with a millie 2. I really dislike the ugly looking pocket clip on the current military and would prefer a compression lock.

I changed the T6's to T8's, and used standoffs in place of the backspacer. A tip-up position for the clip would be nice, but I'd be fine if all they did was switch to bigger screws.

Larger pillars and lanyard loop like the Para 2 has would be nice. I kind of like the Military pocket clip as is, though, TBH. Seems extremely tough.

I'd hate to see Sal mess with a good thing so I'm all for leaving the Military just the way it is. Sounds like you guys want a larger Para with an Endura 4 tip and lots of holes for tip up or down carry..
Whatever it is, it's not a Military:D
Do a sprint run if you must but please leave the Military that we know and love alone:):)

If and when the miltary 2 becomes a reality, i'm fairly certain it won't have a compression lock. With all the locks spyderco has/that are being developed, i'm sure they would want to make a military 2 a truly special knife as opposed to modifying it to use locks in its current arsenal. IMHO such action would ne more of a movement in a lateral direction instead of forward. After all, to improve upon the functionally iconic military would require something new and unique to be worthy of being the next evolution of the military.

/make no small plans, for they have no magic to stir mens blood and probably will themselves not be realized.
