i took my a/c system out of my subaru and i was wondering if the tensioner pully will work well for a idler wheel. it still has the mount on it. all i would have to do is put some rubber around the wheel. this of course would be for a 1x42 or 1x48 belt grinder. i still need to visit the scrap yard for some 2" wide wheels.

should work if you mount it right. provided of corse the ideler in question is flat/cround not for a V-groove belt

it was from my 97 subaru legacy outback. its for a flat belt. i just neet to add the rubber to the wheel. then i need to mount it to the slack arm. i just need to figure out what rubber to put on it and how to mount it. any suggestions?

how about a peice of rubber hose the right size...sounds like you are in for a world of head aches building a grinder from scratch . trust me I built a KMG knock off. it was alot cheaper for me but I also have a full machine shop at my disposal

If it's only an idler (not for contact) just try it as is. If the tracking and tension are ok, the belt will probably be fine against the metal face. Best of luck, Craig
