Will Tuff-cloth keep my Carbon steel blades from staining?

I was wondering if my Tuff-cloth would keep my non stainless blades from staining and discoloration from normal use when coming in contact with meat, fish, blood, etc.?
Thanks

No, but it will help. It will reduce corrosion if not prevent it. I'm not sure cutting meat with a Tuf Cloth treated blade is a good idea. I'm not saying it isn't, just that I don't know. Take care.

I have no concerns using my tuff-cloth treated knives on food.

Use Metal-Glo or Flitz to remove the stains...works great.

I haven't had great success with Tuff or Marine cloth preventing rust on using knives, but I still use them, and Ren Wax. There have been a few threads discussing safety. I'm skeptical but a doctor member indicated that it washes off with soap and water. If that's true, it doesn't say alot for Tuff's bonding ability. Some makers prefer oil, a vegetable oil if you'll be cooking. Obviously you have to refresh that from time to time and choose something that won't go rancid. On the other hand, you could go to Talonite.

I like the patina that forms from using my carbon blades...it will actually prevent rust after a while, all I do is keep my blades dry & clean.
Like HJK said, Talonite will not corrode/rust with normal use.

The Tuf-Cloth coating can indeed be removed with a solvent such as alcohol, or soap and water. Despite this, however, it provides excellent corrosion protection. It is NOT designed to be a permanent coating.

I believe I've heard clove oil recommended
for blades that will come in contact with food.Probably can pick it up in a food store or pharmacy.

At SOG, our independent, in-house testing has shown that Tuf-Cloth significantly reduces, but not completely eliminates, rusting on carbon blades. It's actually one of the best performers we have tried. But this does not replace proper and regular maintenance.
