Will We Ever See a Regular Custom Shop 301?

The discussion about the 300 series got me to thinking but this is off topic to that thread, so I started this one. I truly love the 301 and I wonder if we will ever see it offered as a regular custom shop model? It would be great if we had a choice of blade steel and scale materials (stag, buffalo, wood, elk, etc).

I would choose Buffalo Horn scales and S30V steel.

What do you folks think?

The Collectors Club just did one with up grade steel and handles and couldn't even sell 200. So, I don't think the customer base will pull it. DM

Really? I wonder if they are available, still and what they looked like?

Doc,
I or someone will post you a photo. They are sold out from the BCCI store but there likely will be some available from folks who bought several at the time. They had BG-42 blades which was the attraction. The ivory micarta scales were ok also. 100 had plain scales and 100 had scales etched with the BCCI logo. The cost just under $100.

That cost would be something most people would find difficult, when your only making a few hundred or even a few thousand the cost of each knife is much higher than the standard 301 made in the multi-thousands. But, like the custom shop 110s you go into the program knowing it is going to be higher.

What I would like to see is a little different than a custom shop 301 because I think it is more likely to happen. I would like to see them do them in s30v steel with different scales and do them in large enough runs to sell out but make them as cheap as possible. Say like some jigged bone or your buffalo horn. Do them for a year or two and then switch scale material. A nice plain bone scale would work also. They sort of have been doing that but with Dymondwood colors and Chairman series. We have brass bolsters currently.

Anyway I sort of have given up on the custom shop idea, I will keep talking about it though, it if I go to any knife shows where the big shots are present........300Bucks

I have two of the BCCI 301's, one plain and one with the BCCI logo. I had the good fortune of getting a yellow delrin before they disappeared. I would like to see an upgraded 301 as well. It would be nice if the pull was a little stronger.

300, that would be a better idea, probably, and I would be happy with such an upgraded regular production knife. Jigged bone would be great. I also like the hammer and anvil shield rather than that fancy engraving on the scales (but that's me).

One in s30v would be sweet. When those BCCI ones came out I was late to the party.
