Will Win 2000 run XP games?

Depends on the game, but there shouldn't be anything that doesn't run, mmore like stuff that will not run to full potential. MS is going to drop support for 2K sometime in the near future if they haven't already though, so no more updates etc...

XP and Win2K are very VERY similar so my guess is that 99% programs will run without hesitation :)

This applies if you have newer games on your mind, as Win2000 aren't so friendly to "Win95/98 era" games than XP.

Simms65 - dropped support you are talking about is (it was optional (and expensive :))) for enterprises (similar to e.g. Dell's HW support, or Redhat (Linux) support for enterprises) and no new additional features, but security fixes and updates will be published henceforth

Thanks for the correction. I am only slightly into the IT world, and I am glad to hear that my information is not totally correct. I still have a laptop running 2K!

It usually says on the side of the games box , what it needs to make it run , including OS.

If there is no box or you cant see the info you are looking for , you can always see if that particular game has it's own site or a forum , or try googling the games name and windows 2000 to see what matches come up.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat.
