William Henry as a gift but I'm on the fence about this one

I bought this as a gift for someone who recently helped my company but I'm on the fence about it. He is from London but lives and works in New York. He's not necessarily a knife guy but does appreciate all fine things. I tried to find a knife that would appeal to a gent. I thought this was looked elegant but I'm not sure I like it. It is a limited run B05 Mono with silver G10 over Ti. Any thoughts? It's not too late to return it for another but I heading to NY on Sunday. This was difficult to photograph.

William Henry knives are very nice (obviously) but it's very much a matter of personal taste if someone finds that particular one to be their style. Personally, I think it looks cool but it's a very subjective matter. I'd say its a good choice if you think he'll appreciate it.

One thing to ask though, does he live in New York City? Because if so, unfortunately he won't be able to carry it. The rest of the state is fine, but in New York City basically anything that opens one handed is a no-go right now. Then again, if he's not necessarily a knife guy he probably won't carry it (also the fact it's a limited run William Henry) but you get the point.

EBHM4, that's a good point about NYC. His home is actually in CT but he spends most of his time in NYC. I doubt he will carry it often, if at all, but he could do so in his home state I guess. Or he could just leave it in his office for show and to open envelops.

Perhaps someone else should show him how to open it. I was showing my business partner when it got me.

That knife is obviously very nice. I'm sure he would appreciate the quality and the generosity of the offer, whether or not he actually carries and uses the knife. And who knows, maybe it will turn him into a knife guy.

I like it. It is very reserved for what you expect from the non EDC series WH.

This is what I expected haha:

I own four WH's (check my collection below to see them) and highly recommend them. I was showing one of mine to two other forum members just today and they were amazed at its beauty and quality. So I say give it; it will be an unforgettable gift.

Well, I decided to exchange the B05 and get the B30 Gentech with mammoth bone. Turns out the clasp on the box was broken on the first one and I didn't want to give as gift with broken display box. Then they had this one and it really spoke to me more thatn the other. Now I wish I were keeping it rather than giving as a gift.

I like the second one better. You should get and keep the first one for yourself. I mean, it has already tasted your blood.

If he like fine things like you say he will love that.

I have a couple of William Henry's and they are nicer than most custom knives.

In my personal opinion the second one is much classier and it seems like more people would appreciate it than the first one.

Apparently you feel the same or you would not want to keep this one ;)

Eta, if he is not a knife guy a smaller knife might be better (in general). My brother likes nice things and I thought about getting him a knife but if I did it would have to be pretty small for him to actually carry it. He has commented in the past about my Grip being big and then noticed my Bone Collector was even bigger. I was actually sort of impressed considering it was two years later.

If I did get my brother one it would be key chain size or slightly larger. I would not get him a keychain knife though, they don't seem proper for the whole "man jewelry" thing. Functionality yes, pocket bling... not really

Wow, I rambled on.

It is a gorgeous knife

Beautiful.

How do you like the size of the B30? I think I want my next WH to be a B30.

Scurvy092, Size of B30? Honestly, I never thought I liked the more modern styling of the Gentec. However, after playing around with this one it has grown on me. Now I want to keep it (I'm not). The size is perfect for a gentlemen's folder. It is larger than most WH, other than maybe the B12 or E10.

The first one was beautiful, that second one is outstanding!

You have great taste in gifts, sir!

Hopefully you won't have to mark the new knife with your DNA ;)

best
