Somewhere down the road ahead, I am going to get myself a William Henry. How can i not? What i am interested in is the blades themselves. I see loads and loads of Damascus blades. I also see some DLC coated blades, though far fewer(at least in the models and shapes i dig). My use for the knife would most likely be light EDC tasks and some food prep etc...while out and about. I am very conscientious about cleaning my knife the moment after i use it with food. Would this still be significantly detrimental to the aesthetics of the Damascus blade? Would i be better served with their DLC coated blade? Even if it puts me at a bit higher price? Thanks for any and all input and/or experience.

Their laminated ZDP-189 is amazing steel. It alone makes up for the cost. You have to use it and sharpen it to understand. Just blows me away.

I wanted to get the ti handle, ZDP blade, but never did. I might later though.

I think damascus looks good, but ZDP performs incredibly.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does anyone have any experience with the older blades of 154CM and ATS-34?

I saw a little William Henry folder with a Damascus blade recently. The Damascus looked very nice, but I was kind of shocked at how little the knife was. Looking at all the cool pictures, you sometimes don't get a good idea of the size. Those little ones will sneak up on you.

WH's damascus is nothing to worry about using. I've had many of their damascus knives over the years, as well as the DLC and plain ol' satin finishes. I've never had any problem with rust or discoloration on any of their knives. Like you, I wipe them down after food prep, but I'm not obsessive about it and they still look great.

BTW, like SMF says above, you should really try their ZDP-189. Ideally, get one of their damascus blades with ZDP in the core. Major WOW factor for beauty and performance. Double win!
