An early, completely unexpected Christmas gift from my wife, who knew I was looking for a Mokume Gane knife for my collection.

William Henry B-05 Monarch, carbon fiber scales, mokume gane monolithic bolster and frame, Rob Thomas Typhoon damascus blade. Only a 2.65" blade (this knife fits in my watch pocket of my Levi's), but a beauty nonetheless. And she already basically called my XM-18 a Christmas present. Think I'll keep her.

Thanks to RevDevil, Ken44, and JPD1998 for your nice comments. I did not really want another WH to be honest, but I really appreciated that she searched high and low for a knife with mokume gane, which i just mentioned once, a couple of months ago, that I really liked. And it is so small that I can carry it around in addition to my other EDCers.

I can't believe you're going to carry that beauty. The WH my wife got me for our wedding stays safely tucked in the safe unless it is a special occasion.

Thanks much for all the replies and compliments.

1) I use ALL my knives. This is so small I will use it to open envelopes or clean my nails, that sort of thing. It is a tad smaller than a Chris Reeve Mnandi, almost the same size. I haven't been using the leather clip case it comes with; I just slip it in my watch pocket. If it gets some little marks, such is life. I want to really enjoy it. Fondle it, etc. But I totally understand collectors wanting to keep their knives pristine. Guess I'm too old; want to use them while I can.

2) My other 2 WH knives - pictured in my New Member Intro thread a week ago or so - are the size of a small Sebenza and I actually use them to cut cardboard, etc. Not a scratch on the damascus so far. And William Henry, in their larger knives at least, uses ZDP-189 and other super steels as a core blade metal so they are tougher than they look.

3) Wife has only a brother. She personally has no interest in knives - she likes purses and scarves - but she now can tell a Chris Reeve from a Hinderer (she is my photographer). I told her when I died I wanted to be buried with my knives but she said she'll sell them on ebay and buy purses. Go figure.

BTW, I really like this website. Great, knowledgeable people. They are feeding my addiction.

That knife is a beautiful gift, and all the more special coming from someone you love.
The size is perfect for a small EDC(I have large hands and always carry something very small) and it just looks beautiful while working. If it gets some marks on it, that just makes it even more gorgeous. I love marks on my knives, makes them look well used and loved.
I use all my knives as well.
Post pics of this one as you continue to use and carry it. I love seeing updates.

Your wife is a keeper for sure.

It's nice to have a wife that knows enough to buy quality. No one who knows me buys me knives, except my step-father-in-law, as no one else feels up to the task of picking something I'd actually like. I guess they've figured out I'm sort of a knife snob.:o That's fine with me, as my wife always allows me to pick my own gifts of the cutlery type, so I always get what I want.:D

Of course, it would be awesome to have someone who knows enough about what I like to surprise me. You're pretty lucky.

Welcome to Bladeforums, BTW!

That would be a great find for somebody looking for it for themselves, let alone looking for somebody else! She did great!

Hell of a knife, hell of a wife. Any man would be happy with either, and you've got both.
