TKC showed this link in another thread somewhere; http://www.williamhenryknives.com/product/pocket/legacy/index.html and the knives caught my attention.

I like the looks of the 3" Legacy H300C but am questioning the slip case structure. I guess it is like a slip joint with this little tang that sticks out of the end of the blade when closed. This is a flipper to open the blade. Supposedly your thumb, riding on top of this tang keeps the lock open.

Does anyone have any experience with this knife? If so what are your thoughts. I realize that the WH's are very well made knives but I like the affordability of this Legacy series.

Any thoughts?
 
I believe those new WH knives are called "friction folders". They do not lock. If I am wrong, please correct me. Here is info from WH:
"This collection from William Henry offers a modern vision of the traditional friction folder. The gentleman’s knife, reduced to its essence, with solid carbon fiber handles and our superlative ZDP-189 blade steel.



Each piece features a small tang off the end of the blade, which can be used to rotate or flick the blade open. This tang then integrates into the carbon fiber handle to become a thumb-pad which holds the blade open during use. The simple grip of the hand on the knife during use creates the effective lock to prevent closure."



A patent-pending detent system secures the blade closed for safe carry, and also detents the blade open to locate the thumb-pad in the correct position. Elegant, lightweight, simple, very sharp and built to perform.

No problem; I just remember the posts from not too long ago. I don't think that anybody ever bought one, though..
 
Though I have no experience with this specific William Henry knife I would like to give you a word of caution. I owned one of there spearhead series knives and it had cronic liner lock failure. William Henry's customer service, repair and turnaround could not have been worse. I had to return the knife and they never fixed the problem correctly. In addition the foremost handle spacer pin which acts as the blade stop broke. This allowed the blade to extend past past true, like a hyper extended arm. The pin was thin walled and hollow, nothing like what you would expect for the money paid. They are good looking knives but in my experience they simply do not deliver. Always function over form.
