-William Henry Spearpoint B12 TBPB

What do you think?

These two companies really offer different kind of knives.
With WH you are getting a very well executed gentlemen's knife.

Where as with Rockstead you are getting more of an all purpose folder with some great steel (not that you aren't getting that from WH) ground to perfection.

It's hard to really compare these knives without knowing what you intended purpose is.
Is this going to be an EDC?
A safe queen?
A church knife?
Etc?

I edc a TEI S, and there is no finer knife I have ever owned..... It has been going for over 2 months without so much as a touch up on her blade. Still (beyond) razor sharp, super tight tolerances, unbelievable fit and finish. And a great design. The only bad thing is finding one for sale, and resisting the urge to sell your existing collection and converting it to exclusively Rockstead.....

Does the zdp 189 ever get chips or rolls?
Is it smoother than a sebenza?

I picked up the yxr7 steel version. I can't comment on zpd because of that. But this steel is hardened to almost 65rc, and is tough for its hardness.

I hate to admit this, but i was cutting up a bigbox outside of my place a few weeks ago, and underestimated the sharpness of the blade, zipped right through the box and hit the concrete in the driveway with a pretty good whack. The edge right before the tip of the blade made really solid contact with the concrete, and chipped a little bit. I have owned many knives that are reputed to be the "toughest " in the industry (think Hog) and the TEI sustained no more damage than a similar incident in had with that fixed blade....

I am very skilled at sharpening, but am choosing to send it off to Rockstead to have it repaired by them....

I will get pictures up of the edge after I get out of work tonight....

Again, I can't recommend this knife highly enough, it is truly something special. There are a lot of people on the fence because of handle material, but they negate the fact that unless you have a 0.5" thick blade, odds are the blade will snap before your titanium slabs do.... I love the feel of the inlaid rayskin, and the smooth texture of the handles on my TEI. I am seriously looking at getting a Shin as well, as i like larger blades and that one has the largest blade in a folder offered by Rockstead.

I've handled the Jin s type zdp ... Incredible fixed blade, a pure beauty, but a 1941 euros knife !!!

I think that is the smart thing to do. That sucks though; I think I would have a heart attack.

I almost did, trust me..... But after the initial shock and anger wore off, I was rather impressed at how tough this steel was, considering it was hardened to 65 rc and the edge is at its thinnest at the tip.
