William Henry: Spearpoint or Lancet?

Based on people's reviews and the beautiful pictures plastered all over the forums, I am considering getting a Willaim Henry, probably in Amber Bone, as gentleman's and dress-up carry. Based solely on size, I would probably lean towards the Lancet over the Spearpoint, but the differences in design seem to merit some consideration also. I would be interested in hearing from those who have owned or handled both.

I know of one person who will probably disagree with me but I think the Spearpoint is a perfect daily carry. It has lots of belly and a wicked point if you thin the edge down a bit. The amber spearpoint is my EDC. Some will prefer the Lancet but it is a bit too small for an all around daily user IMO. If you do go with the Amber Spearpoint there is someone on the forums that can make an outstanding sheath for it and you won't need to worry about pocket change dinging it up.

SammyB, can't imagine who this person you are thinking of could be!

I have both the Lancet and the Spearpoint and find the Lancet's narrow profile for a blade to be very handy, but I also like the Spearpoint, so I carry both! Carbon Fiber Lancet in the shirtpocket and the Carbon Fiber Spearpoint in the front left pocket, but on occasions the Fancy Rainbow Spearpoint in a belt sheath.

You will enjoy either one, depends on what you intend to put the blade to work on.

Gary,

I knew there had to be a lancet lover somewhere nearby! I keep forgetting about the CF series. Those have a pocket clip! I need to try one of those on for a while. Do they have dual, single, or any liners? I guess they are pretty light and I like a bit of heft in a knife that small but it might be worth a shot.

Carbon fiber have a single liner and are extremely light but still hold together well, keeping mine

Hello Archie,

You are in a great situation -- having to choose between two fine knives. You certainly won't go wrong with either.
If you are going to be carrying the knife down in your pockets, then I would go for the Lancet, in order to minimize bulk. The Lancet's blade is not that much smaller than that of the Spearpoint's, so I can't imagine any situation that could only be handled by the larger Spearpoint. The Lancet is a perfect daily carry for people who only need knives for incidental purposes. If you need a knife for industrial use, then you would need something bigger than either knife, and should look elsewhere.

My cf Lancet has become my favorite daily carry, mainly because I can clip it to my shirt pocket, and it's light weight makes it unobtrusive. Everyone that has seen it thinks it's a great knife -- even the non-knife people. Check out the cf's if you haven't done so already....

regards,
