Hi y'all,

I was thinking about getting a William henery Spearpoint folder, but I was at www.discountknives.com today and I noticed that they will apparently no longer be carrying them due to "Quality Control" problems.

Does anyone know what problems they are referring to?

Thanks,
John

I would like to hear from Brian @ Discount Knives to see what he is talking about.

This is the first time I have heard anything bad about the WH line of knives.

I have handled and sold numerous ones and I personally believe they are probably one of the best factory gentleman type folders on the market. I have found the fit and finish to be excellent.

As a matter of fact, I just had one of the large size spearpoint's fileworked to use as a showpiece. Doing so, it took the knife from a nice gentleman's folder to a really classy gentleman's folder.

Only thing I have heard a complaint on is that the smaller version is TOO small (doesn't look that small in pictures, but it is).

I have 3 WILLIAM HENRY folders, and they exhibit the best 'finish work' quality of any folders that I own,...period. Including a the few custom pieces that I have. I believe the WH line of knives represents the real 'sleepers' in the =/- $200 range of folders.

I did hear about a appearent 'disagreement' between WH knives and DISCOUNT KNIVES. I don't know the details, and frankly don't care to know. There are always 2 sides to every issue. I think it best to leave it between them. But I will not hesitate to get another WILLIAM HENRY when I 'need' another.

I want to get the model that Will was sporting at the Blade Show West. It was a small carbon fiber handled one that he had clipped to his shirt pocket. It didn't weigh down the front of his shirt either. That's the one for me. Will, if you see this, please let me know which model that was so I can plan accordingly. TIA

Brain,
Thats the 'CARBON FIBER LANCET', not sure hwat the model # is, but they are so nice, I bought one for my dad[also in the knife biz], its the only other 'brand' knife he will carry, other than CAMILLUS. I hightly recommend them.

William Henry's are a bargain, buy a few.

I emailed Brian about this and was told that a customer ordered a $250 WH knife. When he received it had very light scratches on the bolster. Evidently, WH wanted $7 to look to see if it could be repaired. Brian said that he thought $7 was too much to look at a $250 knife.

I might agree that WH ought to pay the freight for what might be a defective knife, even if the defect is purely cosmetic. And if Brian wants to drop the WH line, well, it`s his business to run. But I don`t think it`s right to keep the William Henry name on his website with a "discontinued due to QC problems" banner! (I`m not sure one scratched bolster makes for a "QC problem" worth dumping a whole product line over, but that`s another discussion!) I think the fair thing to do is just drop the WH name from the website and move on.

That`s what I know about the situation. I had the same questions when I saw his website.

My experience with William Henry Knives has been good. Impeccable fit and finish, terribly smooth, and totally elegant. The couple or three over the last year and a half that had lockup problems got fixed right away, and all it cost me was postage.

A scratch on the bolster can happen at any time the knife is handled. One of the nice things about nickel silver, as opposed to anything anodized, is that the surface is user-maintainable. 600 grit wet&dry should duplicate the original finish.

That T10-CF (carbon fiber Lancet) is an excellent shirt pocket knife, to go next to the good fountain pen. That's where I carry the one I yanked out of inventory.

every wiliam henry i have had in stock. as been perfect in fit, finish. for a more or less factory knife they have been more then overwhelming. each and every one i have felt was excellently smooth in action. now as far as the wh10-CF i would have to agree very very nice. light yet durable due to the carbon fiber and the skelatonized/anodized blue pocket clip sets this knife off very elegantly as well. i would never hesitate to
own, sell whatever a william henry knife of any kind.

good as the best and better then the rest.

I saw a few of them at the Blade show this year and narry a wart among them.

I bought a spearpoint, the Rainbow series while at the show and really love that knife.
Recently purchased, my last knife purchase?, a pearl Lancet folder and it too is well made, and locks up well.

Good luck on your hunt!
