Wanted to ask the experts on Wilson Combat Eagle knife. Just got mine today. One of the best looking and feeling knives I ever held. Was going to be my EDC for a while. However after a few times opening and closing ,The frame lock got impossible to move with a thumb, and it takes a tool to pry the lock open to close the blade. Does anyone else have that problem , or do you know the remedy. I tried adjusting the screw and oiling, nothing helps. If not , unfortunately this baby is going back to Wilson Combat since I have no Idea if it's knife specific or just the way they are made. Closing a Starbenza seems effortless comparing to Eagle.

Let's put this in General Discussion. As it's in no way a traditional knife, it doesn't belong here.

Graphite (pencil) or sharpie on the blade tang!

Note that oil on the lock face will make it worse so carefully clean it (q-tip and rubbing alcohol) then apply a little pencil or sharpie to help with the stick!

Or... send it in for a replacement, in my opinion knives at that price point shouldn't suffer from sticky locks.

I have had great luck by using pencil lead on the lock interface. The problem you are having is lock stick. It is caused by the dis-similar metals rubbing together. The titanium is binding/ galling against the steel of the blade. It is rather common on certain knives, and easy to fix. If you try this, I promise it will work like magic.

Look at the back of the blade where the lock bar is making contact with the blade. You should see a rub mark where the contact is being made. Take a regular old pencil and rub it around that area. Be sure you "color" the contact/rub area well. Then open and close your knife. I can almost certainly tell you it will feel like magic. The graphite in the pencil lead will slick the area up nicely. You will most likely have to do it several times, but stick with it. In time the parts will set in, and smooth out quite nicely.

Please let me know if this helps/ works. I'm betting it will. Cheers.

@ JDUNN, thanks, I'm just long winded. :) haha. This was a thread where I saw it and said "oh, I think I can help him". I just enjoy helping out. There are SO many smart folks here on BF. I'm glad if I can give some back. Have a great day.

I just got an eagle recently and it is very easy to get the lock to stick by accidentally getting oil on the lockface since it is so close to the pivot. Just keep cleaning it off (make sure you clean the lockface on the lock bar, not just on the blade) and the stick will go away.

Thank you very much for your help, especially Vegas Blade. I will experiment till Monday, if not, I will send it back!

Peregrine I apologize for offending you, by putting the topic here. I am not to educated yet on proper sections as I am new here, however I am platinum member, and buying American Made, and that should give me some slack .

Ok so used up a full pencil. Got lots of pencil carbon into the joint as well. It's much easier to open now . Still sticks, a little but much better. The blade is not centered Either, I wonder if it's a problem ???

A full pencil?! Are you kidding?

By open I assume you mean unlock?

Blade centering can (usually) be fixed relatively easy as well

Try loosening all the screws. Keep the knife closed. Now, push the blade over to the side using a folded piece of paper. Now bang the back of the knife down a few times on your palm and tighten the pivot screw all the way. Now tighten the body screws all the way. Now pull out the paper wedge. Is the blade still off center? Should be. Now loosen the pivot slightly so you can get a smooth flip. If this doesn't fix it then send it to Rick.

Ok got my Replacement Eagle Wilson combat. This one is smooth , fast and awesome ! I think Wilson Needs to go trough their inventory and identify sticky off center blades and ship the back to Les.
