Hello,

I'm thinking about getting a Wilson Combat Umnumzaan aka StarTac, but am confused about the blade material.

The original CRK Umnumzaan is made from SV35, while Wilson's site states that theirs is made out of SV30.

What gives?

Thanks for your comments.

its gonna be s35vn ... but maybe you are lucky and they actually have some s30v in stock cause its better than the new s35..

Some folks are of the opinion that Chris Reeve runs his S35VN blade to soft RC 58-59. However just about every single high end knife maker is using S35VN on their blades. I think any steel will fail if it is not used the way it was intended. When people try to put these ridiculously thin edges on their blades (28 to 34 degree inclusive) you can't expect them to hold up. S35VN with a good 42 degree edge will serve you well.

Birth date nov. 2011, s30v and no over-travel disc. I showed it to Mr. Reeve at Blade, and I think he was impressed with my two tone job
