Newly finished M7. Made some minor design changes on this one, as I continue to evolve the design and get a little further away from "tribute knives" and Rambo, while still honoring the inspiration.
This M7 has a 7.75" long blade of CPM154 @ 59-60 HRC. Fully functional sawteeth, an aluminum buttcap with a steel plate permanently fixed to it for more durability while hammering and such, and obviously a cord wrapped and knurled stainless steel handle tube.
These have an asymmetrical guard for more comfort while actually using the knife, with fully radiused edges. In a departure from the "blasted finish look," my standard option now offers grey GunKote on the center of the blade, and covers the guard, handle and buttcap. Fully coated is also possible. The GunKote offers significant protection from corrosion and staining, and certainly gives it a distinct appearance.
This one came with a compass in the buttcap, and a sharpening stone on the sheath. The retention strap is rubber coated webbing, as opposed to leather. This resists stretching and rot, and gives more consistency over the life of the strap.
These knives are ground to slice, not split cinder blocks. So they cut well and it is a pleasure to use them for actual knife tasks.
Thanks for looking, and feedback is welcome.
