Wilson Tactical Knife?

Hello,
I'm not familiar with knives at all but I inherited a couple Wilson Combat guns which brought me to looking at their knives. What I would like to know is if they are really worth the price? Are the D2 steel and micarta handles expensive, or is it purely in the craftsmanship?

I appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Alot is in the name brand and proprietary finish. I have a UT-15 rifle and it is just sex. If they made a bayonet I'd buy it. D2 is a quality tool steel, there's higher performance steels out there that you can get in the same price range but the quality of the steel production, grind, and manufacture of the knife also plays a role. Micarta, in my opinion, is the best out there for field use scale material. I'm not sure how much it costs to manufacture, but Kabar sells sets of micarta grips for their Becker knives for 40 dollars a set.

The handles on WT's tend towards small, I noticed they include the exposed tang in their measuring of the handle, which can mislead as to the actual size of the grips/scales, making the grips seem [on paper] 1/2" longer. I sold mine because of this exact reason and I will never buy another one after that BS. I have large hands and I don't need some idiot mis-representing a handle that led me to spend $300 unnecessarily, a "handle" is the section "gripped" by a "hand" yes/no/maybe?. 2 thumbs up on the Beckers, can't go wrong. $80 and you are DONE, I have a BK7 and a Campanion. I tried Ontario, RAT, K-Bar, Gerber LMF, and a few others before I got to BK land. Wish I had started there first, but I am just biased i guess, good luck.

+ I didn't want to say it at first but WT just plain old charges too much.

I would typically agree with you but the one product I have from them is worth every penny, as it makes a pattern of holes smaller than my fist at 500 yards...

I posted a question about their folders a little while back, and didnt get any responses. From what I read on the web they are partnering with Fox Cutlery, use N690Co stainless, and are using Ernest Emerson's wave. At least with their folders. Their website says their knives are made in the USA, but Fox is in Italy. I'm thinking their fixed blades are US made?
I've shot Wilson pistols and been impressed, great quality.

I tend to avoid knives branded by companies who don't actually make them. Wilson is a respected name in competition range pistols. It doesn't necessarily follow that the knives they offer are just as good. Quality build, decent materials, but selliing on the hype of their brand.

Lot's of competition shooter's carry a clipped pocket tactical protector because it's the fashion on the range. They appear multifunctional and more expert at self defense.

Soldier's/LEO's carry a tool that could be used as a last resort - after the ammo runs out, the main battle rifle can no longer be used as a club, somebody's else's rifle is useless, an entrenching tool is broken, disarming techniques have failed, final protective machine gun fire has ceased, and they are knee deep in grenade pins. Then they go for a 4 inch folder? Not so much.

Cool on the range, tho.

In general, you're quite right. However, just for "never say never" perspective, I have to do this to you... ;) Go down to post #6 on this page:

There were some posts about it on BF too, but they only link to the story archive on Washington Post's website and the pictures are long since gone.
