Wilton grinder concerns...

I had always thought that I'd like to have a Wilton Squarewheel as my first grinder, they have always been dependable and solid machines. I've been saving up for a while and am well on my way to having enough to buy either a decent anvil or a grinder. Now, however, I'm having second thoughts since the Wilton is no longer made by Olympia but by overseas manfacturers and I've heard a few complaints about uncharachteristic quality problems. What about it, do the new models compare in quality with the older Olympia made models?

only cry once when you buy tools. for the money you are going to lay out i would talk to rob frink about his new machines and look at the new lower priced one from hardcore wwwtrugrit.com. wiltons are about a grand to start? you can get a grinder made here that you can talk to the maker.

I would have to agree. Get one the beuties made by people here. I have an older modle square wheel and love it but I have heard too many bad things about the new ones to want to purchase another.
Hope this helps.

I bought a brand new variable speed one with all the small attachment wheels about 4 months ago. The company moved to Illinios and I was told they are made right "here" in Illinios. They even have a big metal plate riveted to it that says "Made in the USA." (?????)

Anyways, mine came with a slightly warped main wheel (made the belts move on the contact wheel) ..... I called Wilton and I had another new one in my hands the very next day. Besides the pain of having to switch out the wheel I love my Wilton machine.
