Hi All. I got a wilton a few months ago and love it (mostly). However, the tracking adjustment is just a pain. Having to fit an allen wrench into a hole while your 60 grit belt is trying to eat it's way through the side of the machine just doesn't seem like the best plan to me.
I plan on doing something about this and just figured I'd ask how others have solved this problem.
Any suggestions?

My Wilton tends to have problems tracking at times too. I think alot has to do with the belts you use. I did like Kit Carson has done with his Wilton. He epoxyed an allen key in the slot so it's always there. I went one step further. I cut my allen key so it was a straight shaft and epoxyed it into the hole. I then epoxyed a plasteic knob on the end of the shaft so it's easy to grab and adjust. If anybody has any tracking sugestions I would be interested too. I swapped out the full speed motor and put a variable speed in. I then used a straigt edge to allign to drive wheel and the 8 inch rubber wheel. I usually get tracking problems on the 200/400 grit belts. Thanks in advance.

I got one of the straight type allen heads with a plastic (screwdriver type) handle.. cut it off very short...and epoxied it inot the hole...its been there for 17 years! also wrap about electrical tape about 1/8" or more high right in the center of your tracking wheel, make it lead in smoothly and make sure you have the tape going in the right direction...and your belt will stay right in the middle and go to a slight overhang very easily.....no off to the left to grind a slot in your machine every!
