Hello,

This is the first time I have posted to this forum. My name is Gail Ford and I am currently running a contest at my site,
Custom Knifemaking, Suite101.com.

The books that I am offering may be of some interest to the folks here. They are:

2The Japanese Sword:A Comprehensive Guide,
Kanzan Sato, Joe Earle, Kanzan Soto
3)How To Make Multi-Blade Folding Knives,Terry Davis, Eugene Shadley,Terry
Oates
4)Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values,Bernard Levine.

If you would like to learn more about the contest please go to: http://suite101.com/contest.cfm/custom_knifemaking/141

TIA for your support, and best of luck!
Gail

Gail,

Welcome aboard! This is a very generous way of introducing yourself and your site to the forumites. Make sure you get your site added to the links area too

I did NOT escape from the institution! They gave me a day pass!

BFC member since the very beginning

......... Spearfish Rifle & Pistol Club
pending: Buck Collectors Club (prime interest: 532s)
Certified Talonite(r) enthusiast!

I notice to enter the contest you must become a member of suite101.com by filling out a form answering some personal questions of the sort that make a mailing list more marketable.... I poked around reading disclaimers and rules for members and such and did not find any promise not to spam the members, not to sell lists of members ... no promises at all. There might be some promises there somewhere; I didn't spend all night looking....

I also notice by becoming a member you agree to give *irrevocable* rights to anything you post there to suite101.com -- an illegal and unenforceable contract, IMHO, but still showing a somewhat alarming indication of attitude....

Very likely I'm being paranoid and there's nothing to be alarmed about in becoming a member of suite101.com at all -- usually those boilerplate things come with the software and are not even reviewed by the site owner before posting ... so who knows....

Cougar had me all worried about privacy and then when I went to Suite101 I found out I was already a member!

DOH!

Thanks Gail for a chance at a knife book!

Note to Cougar - :0)You're more paranoid than I am!! Sorry about the "joining" fiasco. I myself don't like to join too many things either. I won't go on a big defensive trip, but I will say that 1) Suite101 doesn't sell their lists or spam(or so I have been assured)and 2) I understand where you're coming from. The knifemaking community et al
is made up of people that don't even want a nick in their personal freedoms, the few that they have left. Sorry again that joining is one of their requirements, but that is how sites exist(I guess??) I'm just there to have some fun writing about what I like.
