Hi all,

I was told by a very nice Gentleman this Summer (while at a Flea Market) should I ever find old items
marked "WINCHESTER" (not talking Rifles) buy it! Well, this past weekend, I found a somewhat Rusty (but otherwise) good condition Axe Head. Using my finger (and a lil' spit) I was able to clean off just enough Rust to make out the word "WINCHESTER". Whoa! I never realized there was such a "collectors" market for things marked WINCHESTER. I was pretty shocked to see the price these Axe Heads brings on Ebay. My WINCHESTER Axe Head is a single bit Head withOUT a "nail puller". So, might anyone know who made WINCHESTER Axe Heads ? Are they rare ? I've collected about forty Axes/Hatchets/Axe Heads this Summer and this is the first WINCHESTER I've ever found.

Regards,

I believe Winchester made there own. They look like good axes but I have no first hand experience with them, because every time I see one the owner is to proud of them. Anything older marker Winchester is over priced.

Winchester made different axes and hatchets over the years. The also used slightly different logout print styles as well. I will see if I can post a pic I have 4 or 5 I do believe. They are collectible due to the sheer number if gun collectors out there that want that old reference to a classic. Great find.

Hi Op,

Thank you so very much Sir! The Axe Head is marked as follows:

WINCHESTER
TRADE MARK
MADE IN USA

It will depend on the kind of imprint that the markings have. Winchester had a couple different patterns that can help to date it.

Regardless, its a great find, most Winchester axes/htchets go for at least $50 plus easy.

Sorry for my poor typing above in previous. Guess smart phone isnt that smart. OH thats right, Im the one that typed it in......

Nice find.

Hi OP,

No problem my friend. Yea, I kinda thought the "type/style" of Logo would be the case in judging age. Darn, I wish I could post pixs.
Still (as you said) one of my better finds. Thanks Op.
