I'll save you some reading.
Yes, at one time there were some quality made knives with the Winchester brand on them. However in recent years, both design, steel and manufacture quality has gone down the crapper. If it's new there is very strong liklihood (about 99% chance) that it's not worth the blister pack it's packaged in.
My advice would be to save up about five to ten more bucks and get a Kershaw, Ontario, or Esee. I know I missed a few others but that should get you started.
Bottom line, it's your money, do what you want with it. Have fun in your search.
