Must be something in the water...

:p

A week or two ago a very generous forum member who hosted a giveaway here sent me a PM. He said that he had noticed that I rarely sign up for the giveaways of others even though I had hosted giveaways of my own here on the forum. He went on to say that he held a "private" drawing (in addition to the "public" one held here on the forum) and that I won. (I think it was really just his way of finding an excuse. ;))

I've had the pleasure of corresponding with this member and getting to know him a little bit over the past year or two and this thoughtful gift will be a token of friendship for years to come.

I've been very fortunate this week and am humbled by the gesture.

Here's some images of the knife. A "Black Box" Winchester (Queen/Blue Grass Cutlery) from 1987...Pattern #1924

As soon as I sharpen it up tonight the knife will join my "new" Schrade Walden whittler as my current carry knife with my humble thanks and gratitude.

That is a purty one, Elliott! I like the browner (more brown?) bone on those knives.
There are some people out there who do appreciate your work, and diligence here!! Nice going, to both of you!

Thank you, Charlie, I appreciate the kind words and the friendship even more.

That was very kind of him:thumbup::thumbup:

Thats a great looking toothpick Elliott!
I'm not up on the Winchester's. What length is that one?

BTW- I don't have a knife to send ya Elliott:p, but do appreciate all you do here:thumbup:

Elliott at first you and I butted heads and had a few run inns but now I'm proud to say I respect and appreciate your guidance.

BTW Very cool toothpick!

Beautiful bone on that piece and I really like the pointy blade. Very generous and thoughtful gesture on the secret member's part and it went to a very deserving person.

Ken, thanks for the kind words.
(I'm not really going to ban all those members who don't send knives. :p)

The knife is 4 3/8" closed.
Blade is ~ 3 3/8" to the bolster.
Weight is 2 1/8 ounces according to my digital scale.

Thanks to you all for the friendship and support. It sure makes my day.

Well, I can now certify the blade as "Saturday night juke joint" sharp with an edge as smooth as a killer's whisper! ;)

Elliot, Nice looking Toothpick! You deserve all the gifts you get!
Congrats to the both of you! Just one more reason this is
such a great place to hang out!! Thanks for sharing.

That caused me to feel my throat just to make sure it was still okay. - Ed

That's a nice gesture for a nice guy! I like the bone on that toothpick.

Very cool. Those black box Winchesters sure do have some nice bone.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy  And kudos to the mystery sender.
You know she went to a good home

Nice knife and great jesture. See Elliott, some people really DO like you :p

Being very new to the forums (my first), I want to thank all of you with the information, personal experiences, advice, etc. that you have passed on to us "newbies", & special acts like the one above are slowing restoring my faith in mankind.
Be safe.

Nice knife and great gesture. See Elliott, some people really DO like you :p

There's no accounting for taste, Kerry. (Or I'd still be single. ;):p)

Thanks for the good words, all. (And glad your throat is still intact there, Ed. :D)

Supposedly some vintage Rogers bone. (Not sure if it's the same bone which is alleged to have come from the old Utica Cutlery or not. Probably so.)
The word is/was that many of these Winchesters were made with the old dies as well.
