Mete or any one that has a answer.
Had a man come by a couple of days ago and asked if I wanted some springs, I took a look at them and there were 4 bars shaped like springs with a part number on them
4'' wide 1/2" thick and 4 ' long brand new no holes or shackle loops he did not know any thing about them. I helped him unload them, just gave them to me. Today I cut a piece off and spark tested it and it looks more like 1084/1095 than 5160. Heated it up to 1500 deg. and quenched in water, file skated real good and then broke it and it snapped, showed a real fine grain. Now for my question is there any way to tell more about what I have short of sending a sample off for a analysis?
Where to send a sample and how much dose it cost?
There is a lot of knives in those pieces, about the right size for integrals.
