i'm looking to buy an inexpensive wind up watch....say under $50but i'm flexible on the price.....not an auto winder....the kind you turn the stem every day to rewind it. doesn't has to keep super accurate time.

thought it might be good for my BOB as a backup to my quartz watch. dont know if anyone makes these anymore. maybe you could point me in the right direction.

if i do get one, is it a good idea to wind it once a month or more to keep it from gumming up?

thanks........Bill

think i found something:

any opinions on these?

The Marathon US issue would be excellent for your purposes.
From the other side of the former iron curtain, you migh also look at
Vostok and Poljot watches. Some of them will fit your needs.

I purchased one of the Vostoks off of EBAY almost a year ago and like it very much. So much that I turned around a bought another one for a spare.

No alarms, lights or glowing faces, just a plain old wind up watch. The bezel does rotate thought, which is nice. I have had many comments on it, and to those not "in the know" it does look a lot more expensive than it is.

Why did I buy mine in the first place? Because I liked the looks of it, wanted a wind up mechanical, and won it with a $15.00 bid!
