I just bought one of these (on the way here now) and I am wondering if anyone else owns one.

I'm wondering if i'm going to feel a need to lengthen the handle or otherwise modify it.

Your impressions of yours would be welcome

These have always read as a great value. I don't own one but have considered it a few times. The protrusion of the rivets looks like they could be uncomfortable but apparently authentic to originals. The kindjals have even pronounced "knobs" but maybe they are meant to have a purpose in general handling.

Cheers

I don't own one but I've noted on several Roman reenactment sites that they are often stripped down to the blade and then used as a platform for building a gladius.

I really need to try one of these too. I keep looking at a few different short swords, hem and haw and then remember how pleased I am with my condor combat machete and don't buy a thing.

There are worse ways to spend $40. :D

Qama arrived about 30 minutes ago. I spent about 20 minutes sharpening it and i have to say that i'm very surprised by how great it is. The sheath has no problem retaining the blade (the main complaint of most of the reviews I read. It is MASSIVELY better than the cold steel gladius machete and handles nicely.

For the price, this thing is a hell of a bargain

A Windlass Muskateer Rapier was the first "real sword" I ever bought, off a guy at a flea market who had no idea what he had. Twelve Dollars. I've loved Windlass stuff ever since. I've advanced quite a bit now, with purchases from other companies, but for the money, you can do MUCH worse than a Windlass Blade.

So Beprepared, what do you think of it?

You have me looking at this hard and the cobra lakonia...

i think i ground them off

they weren't bad, but i made some major modifications to the handle to make it more comfortable

Their blades are generally all right. It's their handle construction on some models which sucks.

Mine is extremely sharp after some work and I generally like the performance and handling of this small sword.
