What do you think of their quality at present? Are they better than the stuff from Pakistan?

Your opinionated thoughts please.

A while ago I ordered a Primitive Bowie because it was a knockoff of Jim Bowie's knife in the movie The Alamo.Definitely a p.o.s.,crappy stainless, crappy handle, crappy sheath, cool brass parry strip, crappy tang and ferrule.Came unsharpened, hollow ground an edge on it and it's a weed chopper outside now.Knives from India. :barf:

there swords from Museum Replicas are quite good and their Krukris are as well
I have a semi-costom cutlass that uses a Windlass blade...to be honest the original sword wasn't too strong, but the blade was perfect, nice and springy and holds an edge well.I got Dave Sandburg to attach one of his trench knife handels to it...now you could beat someone's head with the handel or cut;slice;and stab with the blade :D

Now I'll be the first to admit some of the lower priced stuff they put out is......
enhe! your bowie sounds like such a work!

From I've heard, India has certain laws that require them to NOT sharpen knives and/or swords before they are exported. I don't know any details, though.

Probably true but Windlass offered them sharpened before being shipped for 9.95,paid extra for sharpening and it arrived unsharpened. What's that tell ya' about Windlass.I didn't pursue it. :thumbdn:

I've bought some of their swords via Museum Replicas, all of them had wildly varying fit/finish. But none were above mediocre at best. For costume pieces, I guess they would be ok, but not for anything more IMO.

hi
did you sharpen it yourself, if so what sort of an edge was it and was it durable ?

They're not that bad in my opinion. Not high end stuff by any stretch, but certainly better than the Pakistani crap. They are good for "home improvements" type projects, and they also offer many knife styles that are about impossible to find otherwise. (unless you want to spend huge bucks on an antique) I think for the most part, they represent decent quality for the price.

They make nice wall hangings for your bar room at home. Reminds me of a joke: What's the difference between the corner pub and an elephant fart?
One is a bar room and the other is a BAROOM!
