Windmill lighters?

Anyone have much experience with these? I'm looking at their smaller trekker model for winter carry around water, as well as general use. I'd like it for edc, but think it might be a tad too big.

My main concerns would be it's build quality and it's waterproofness.

Other alternatives, that would be similar in size, IE not full size?

I've had, and used, a Windmill lighter for years.

I had a problem where the latch on the front broke but I returned it and they replaced/fixed it under warranty and I haven't had a problem since.

It has never caused me any problems in cold weather but I carry it in my pocket so it always stays warm.

There are some operational tricks to maximize the performance of the lighter but they're all on the Windmill website and probably in the user manual. One example is how to effectively light consistently. I had some problems with clicking and not getting a flame until I read their hints. (You push down until you hear gas and THEN click the rest of the way down.) Since that time, flawless performance...

So these Windmills are recommended? I ask because I have had several high end refillable butane lighters and all were crap. I know that there must be a good one out there.

I have the shockproof one, 4-5 years now- always lights, the flame is so hot you can damn near weld w/ it :)

I have had the opposite experience with these. Both of the ones I bought died (the spark on one and the button froze on the other) -within a few months. I was smoking at the time, so I was using them a good deal, but I expected more for the money. Do yourself a favor and just put your regular Bic lighter in an Otterbox whenever you go out hunting or camping.
